      Strange

Last night it seemed as if nothing had happened. (regular dream or otherwise) It just seemed like there was blackness the whole time. Is this a result from trying to start lucid dreaming (i'm still pretty new to the idea) too much or too little? I'm not very sure how you'd overstress it or maintain a balance without doing too little so I'm just thinking in the "duh" kind of state where the mind thinks it'll do something and keep at it on it's own or something I guess. Should I just leave it at this or should I make a change in routine or something?

Don't think of it as strange, think of it as normal.

We all have experienced this, and this 'blackness' or 'nothingness' you have described, has gone on in me for certain periods of time for up to a month! We call it a 'dry spell' if it goes on for a week or so.

There are many individual nights, where this happens to me, so don't worry! You'll be ok...

Also, how much sleep did you get last night? Did you take any medication for a cold? are you on any Antidepressants? ...and how stressed out are you?
If any of the above are the case, then that might have dulled your sleep, because you would have been deeper into it...or in the case of stress...not deep enough.

Yeah...like lowercase said, its not really a weird thing.

It happens to most people very often. Maybe you just weren't able to recall your dream at all so it seems like if nothing happened. Try waking up after each REM period and hopefully the memory of the dream will remain fresh...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
