Talking Off to a Good Start

Hi all, I've finally decided to stop lurking!

I joined about 2 or so weeks ago, after StumbleUpon pointed me here. I realized I had had a few LD's in the past, and remember really enjoying them. I read through the info, and got excited enough to start.

I had my first LD two nights afterwards, since I have had 3 more. I haven't started a dream journal, though I have worked quite a bit on my dream recall. I plan on maybe starting my journal on here.

Almost did a WILD after my second DILD, but bailed out after first vibrations...

I'm keen to go further, and the Dream Guide prospect REALLY interests me.

So, now that's done with, Learn me some wisdoms!
Have you heard the gypsy hymns in the odd hours of the night?

Hey, welcome! Awesome avatar. Yeah, I tend to get too excited or something when I feel those vibrations. I haven't tried Clairity's WILD technique yet, but I think that might be the answer to my problems. Check it out:

Welcome! You are off to a good start! Five LDs in two weeks is great for a beginner. I definitely suggest keeping a dream journal, and they are fun to have on here because you can see what other people have to say. Try not to let those vibrations scare you. (though that may be easier said than done) Just remember that they can't hurt you. It's SP (sleep paralysis) that usually scares people, I suggest you read up on it so you are familiar with what to expect. The dream guide prospect interests me as well, though I have been unsuccessful in finding mine. Read spiritofthewolf's guide, here. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...lf+dream+guide

Funny you should mention Clarity's technique, I tried it for the first time this morning. Unfortunately, I was too tired to actually remember the specifics of it, so I started mixing in random techniques, then eventually just fell asleep.

Apparently a... FDEHWILD is not a valid way to LD. Don't ask... :p

About the vibrations; I snapped out of my WILD because I thought my arm was thrashing.

      ... it wasn't.

The old "arm thrashing" vibration! LOL!

You know you gotta tell us what FDEHWILD stands for!

I want to welcome you to Dream Views and on your lucid successes so far!!

Please try again to WILD! As for the vibrations ..don't let them psych you out.. just ride them out!

If you have any questions on my technique or on WILDs in general, please let me know and I'll do my best to find you an answer.

I'm glad you found you're way here and I look forward to reading about your lucid experiences!

Thanks for all the support, it's not often you see this kind of help!

FDEHWILD-- Finger Dream Ended Hypnotic Wake Induced Lucid Dream. Um... yeah. Now that I think about it, that might work...

Oh, I forgot to mention- that first WILD I attempted was done without any WBTB.

Most of my attempts have been without prior sleep, because of my sleep schedule. I'm asleep around 3 AM, so if I try to get the 4 hours in, it's already dawn.

When I try to back my sleep schedule up to a normal time, it usually involves a week or so of random bouts of sleep-deprived rage. I'll try to get an eye cover-thingy.

Yep.. the "eye cover-thingy" really helps.. especially if your sleep schedule varies.

Well, feeling ambitious, I tried to WILD again last night, no WBTB.

Actually, got further than I did the first time. Got past first vibrations, thanks to the advice, but found an unexpected experience:

When I was younger, when very tired, my vision would... well, whack out. Everything seemed small and distant, though they were only a few feet away. It's rather hard to explain, but it's really disorientating. You can feel this, even if your eyes are closed...

Another thing I found interesting was the sounds. Also when younger, when the vision thing set in, it was coupled with sound distortion. I'm not sure how to explain, but it seems as if all sounds are being directed right at you, and they are a... murmur? I have a white noise machine in my room, even that seemed like it was directed at my ears. Somehow I suspect that everyone experiences this, but I may be wrong.

Other than a repetitive spinning feeling, this is my last WILD roadblock (I should hope...)

I don't suppose anyone has worked through these problems in the past?

      Thanks in advance!

What is the end result with the sounds/images.. do they just suddenly stop or slowly fade away and, if so, what do you do?

Have you tried to bring the images closer.. or make the sounds louder.. or perhaps find a distinctive recognizable sound within the sounds and concentrate on that.. or even try to separate the noise into "disctinctive" sounds. I'm just throwing ideas out here!

Plus if you get the chance.. do try WBTB with your next WILD.. you might be pleasantly surprised by the results.
