New Lucid dreamer..Freaking out about FA's!!!

Ok so I have had FA's before and I would just get freaked out and wake up hyperventilating not knowing what was going on. After some research online I came upon Lucid Dreaming and FINALLY everything made sense. I had never been Lucid but I had recognized FA's because they had happened to me a couple of times. Anyways..I tried all the Lucid dremaing techniques and I had my first one the second time I tried. I started dreaming that I was in a circus when all of a sudden I remembered to do a reality check. I looked down at my hands and just as I expected they were disfigured. My fingers were sort of melted together like claws and thats when I knew I was dreaming. So I kinda of smiled and began directing the circus just to see if I could. and sure enough I could! I was having a blast until I woke up! OR SO I THOUGHT! There I was laying in bed staring at my closet and I thought I was awake but i couldn't move. Yet everything seemed so real. So I looked down at my hands and they were gone. So then again I became Lucid again I guess and I knew I was dreaming but I couldn't wake up and I started freaking out~! I have a mirror in my room so I decided to do another RC and I kinda floated to the mirror and looked in and I had red flaming hair so I freaked again and began yelling wake up wake up Full force But I couldn't. I was completely awar that I was dreaming yet there was nothing I could do about it! I felt trapped and helpless. I did not like this feeling at all. It wasn't until my brother came in the room that I woke up stunned and I automatically checked my hands to see if it was another FA or not.

Anyways my question is for those advanced Lucid dreamers..is there anyway to wake up on cue when you are feeling like this? because admist all the fun..this is the only thing that freakes me out.

Technically, in my opinion you only realise its a FA if a) you become lucid, in which case just wake yourself up or b) you actually do wake up.

As a matter of corse, when you wake up in the mornings just perform an RC to make sure you are away, thus when you experience a FA you should RC then too, and recognise your still dreaming. If you dont want to continue when lucid just wake up

first of all, theres no reason to freak out.
a FA LD is just like that circus LD.
now, i heard people concentrate and try to open their eyes, their real eyes.
closing your eyes sometimes sometimes makes you lose your lucidity. thats just as good in your case.

When I was younger, I had lucid dreams a lot. Not to the point where I could control them, but almost once every night I would suddenly realize I was dreaming. Usually when this happened I immediately tried to wake up. And what I found out worked for me was to concentrate really hard on opening my "dream eyes" as wide as I possibly could. That'd always wake me up. So next time you freak out because you're unable to wake up, then maybe you could try that?

Hey thanks! I guess since it was my first time being Lucid I freaked out and lost control.

Your right about it being just like the circus.

I never thought of trying to open my eyes! I was just screaming and trying to move but it wasn't working so I felt helplessly trapped~

I will try this technique though next time and see if it works. Hopefully there wont be a next time though lol because atleast for me FA's suck! :p

I tent to find closing your eyes has more success to waking yourself up. Give both a try
