      False Awakening

Hey everyone! I'm sure there have been a lot of posts about this, but I'm not sure what they really mean. I had a FA over the weekend and I am wondering if this means I am getting closer to having an LD?

Yes. Ofcourse it does! Think, if you did a reality check during the FA you could've had a lucid dream. Also the FA shows that part of your mind knows about lucid dreaming or else it wouldn't have happened.

Sorry If I am hijacking the thread a bit but how does an FA show your mind knows about Lucid Dreaming? I am not having a dig or anything, I am just genuinely intrigued as my first LD was preceded by an FA the same night.
In complete darkness we are all the same, it is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us. Don't let your eyes deceive you.

Yeah, how are the two connected?

Your subconscious tries to create a safe enviroment that maybe you can do an RC in and realize that you are in fact dreaming? To think about it, I never really had FA's until recently.

I've only started to have them as well. I would imagine that its kinda like a glitch in your brain when you're about to wake up. The brain is starting to become more active after the night of sleep and recreates what your surroundings are like with amazing accuracy. In my most recent one, I woke up with a small tattoo on my chest and had no idea how it got there. I was thinking about what I did the last night. Maybe I got drunk and decided to get a tattoo. I was very confused as to how it got there. When I woke up for real, I was sleeping in the same position as I was in the FA. I belive this suggests that the subconscious is always aware of the psysical world at a subliminal level.

Well, usually you have a FA after a lucid. I always believed this to be a way of the mind tricking you into thinking you're awake. So that you can go back into having normal dream ect.

So by him/her having a FA, its kind of like she/he is coming round to knowing about lucid dreaming but the mind is trying to work its way around it.
