      Really interested

I am really interested in this topic. I nearly always have very vivid dreams, and a lot of recurring ones. Often the dream is SO vivid when I wake up, but by the afternoon I can't remember it! So I am starting a journal tonight. The gist of my recurring dreams ( back at my old job-and being crappy at it , losing teeth, flying, and being able to breathe under water) are easy to remember in general terms because I have them so often. Based on the vividness of my dreams and the ability to recall (at least when I first wake up) makes me optimistic that I may be able to have lucid dreams. Anyway-I just wanted to meet everyone and see if anyone has any helpful hints-thanks

I'm totally new, too, but I know what the more experienced members might say: You're really close to getting some good lucid dreaming going on! Since your dream recall is pretty good, start journalling in as much detail as possible your dreams right after you wake from them. Once you've got about a week's worth (or at least a dozen or so) of dreams logged, look for recurring themes, objects, emotions, etc. - these are your "dream signs" and will help you to know how to recognize when you're dreaming. Since you have a higher rate of recurrence in your dreams, this might be pretty easy. (If you're losing teeth in every dream, it should be easy to go to sleep with the conscious intention of realizing you're dreaming when that next tooth falls out).

Again, I am only regurgitating what I've read on these boards and some others. The process is fairly well agreed-upon. Search around here, especially the tutorials section. You'll find a lot more.

      Good luck!

      Welcome to the forum

Im a firm believer, as is everyone else here id expect, that anyone can achieve lucid dreams.

I think starting a journal is definitely the first and most important step. You have a good start having decent vividness and recall already.
Reality checking through the day is not a bad idea either. You could even base some of your reality checks around your recurring dreams such as reality checking everytime you see your teeth in the mirror, on a photograph or in the glass beside your bed (if that was to apply ).

I recommend you check the tutorial section too:

Look up the 'Wake Back to Bed' (WBTB) technique which is really useful if you dont mind disturbing your sleep. Id also look into wake-initiated lucid dreams (WILD) and its variants, just because its a really awesome method of induction (not the easiest method though).
