      Back to Basics

I made a post sometime in the past asking if it would be good to experiment with induction techniques while still building dream recall. Well further experimentation at this stage, in my case, is OUT! My dream recall is proving FAR too inconsistent, and I've realized that I've been focusing too much on the techniques and not devoting enough attention to actual dream recall. So from now on I'm gonna do like the book says and wait until I recall at least one dream EVERY night to go for lucidity.

      Heya there,

For me, its always a balance between trying to have lucid dreams, but also remaining interesting in normal dreams, just for what they are.

I find that it is real easy to get so hung up on lucid dreams and dream awareness and dreammanipulation and what not, that your normal dreams sort of get dismissed as the filling inbetween.

And that in turn hurts dreamrecall. Like basically anything in life, if you want to develop it, you need to pay attention to it

So maybe taking a small break and just working on dream recall is a good idea. My advice, first and foremost, is to never forget that normal dreams can be really interesting, fun and exciting too.

      Just my 2 dreamcents,

Until very recently, I'd gone a year or so without any propper practice of lucid dreaming or keeping a dream journal. My advice to you is do the basics, journal and reality checks. It'll work wonders for starting back up, I promise you.

Last night I moved onto the floor where I had room to move instead of the couch and just focused my intent to recall my dreams, and ONLY to recall my dreams. I also tried setting an alarm for the different REM periods, and I recalled two dreams, ending a four night dry spell! If I just keep doing this my goal of at least one recall a night shouldn't be that far off and I should be experimenting with techniques again before long.

I have this same exact problem. Desperately trying to bring on another LD took me away from what I needed most, dream recall. Haven't been journaling since I can't remember most of my dreams.
