      just had my first LD

      hah, well i actually kinda gave up on all this a few months ago. i'm a quitter, i am sad to say, but i just wasn't getting anywhere with this. last night i had an LD, just outta nowhere. freaked me out a bit, it was really vivid, felt very much real, then i just took over and did my thing. i guess what i really wanted to ask is if this would improve my chances of having another one. or if the sleeping pill i took last night helps any?

      @_@

      Congratulations on the LD
      I'm not sure if it will increase your chances of another, but it could. After all, now you know what a lucid dream feels like.
      The sleeping pill probably induced deeper sleep/longer REM periods, which could affect dreaming, but it shouldn't really affect lucidity.

      Hey there, congratulations on the lucid dream!

      From what I've heard others say, sleeping pills hinder, rather then help lucidity, though that probably depends on the pill. It could have helpped, or it could have just heen luck.

      To get more frequent LDs, just practice and don't give up really. Keep your journal, do your reality chacks and in time you'll find the lucid floodgates opening.

      Yes Alex D is right, stay away from any sleeping aids, alcohol or any other drugs if you want greater chances of lucid dreaming

      I'll just second what Alex said. In general, sleeping medications are counter-productive to dreaming and - by extension - lucid dreaming. That you had an LD in sleeping pills was probably just luck. But hey, lucking into an LD is good luck so I don't knock it. But I wouldn't take that to mean that sleeping pills are the answer for you; I'd be very cautious about drawing that parallel.
