      hypnotic imagery?

I was attempting a WILD earlier this morning and for a less then a second, a glimpse of a picture of clouds came from no where and disappeared as quickly as it had came. It was a very bright and 'beautiful' picture. Nothing else happened and I saw no more imagery but felt, all of a sudden, awake. Note that I am new here and have only been at it a couple of days and this is the first time experiencing this. So can i get some tips on what would have happened after this?

What you experienced is almost certainly hypnagogia. It's common in WILD attempts. If you had been able to get through that, you might have gone straight into REM and had a WILD. Try, try again.
      LD Counter (as of 07.25.07) = 5 (2 WILDs)
Short-term goal: Recall three full dreams a night for a full week.
Long-term goal: Have three LDs per week for one month.
Longer-term goal: Have one six-hour LD every night! (Shooting too high? We'll see.)
Waking life goal: Round up some NPSG equipment to study my own sleep patterns.

Hypnagogia forming clear images like that as opposed to abstract things and flashes of light is very good indeed. You were close, top stuff. :bravo:

Yeah, I thought that I read somewhere that you'll get more flashing images and sooner or later, it will be a constant, steady picture?

      Hey there wfrballin

I am just curious to where you got in your WILD, did you get past sleep paralysis? Because if you didn't i can maybe relate to your experience, sometimes i will be trying to get to sleep and in the blackness of my closed eyes a picture or something similar will just pop up and seem really clear and vibrant and then just fade away. Its really strange, sometimes i'm not even trying to attempt any technique, it can happen a few seconds after getting into bed.

However if you got past sleep paralysis and moved past the HI and began to see images you were definately on the right track and getting there, if your that close and you've only just started lucid dreaming i'm pretty confident that you will get far with lucid dreaming using the WILD technique, keep it up

I barely got into Sleep Paralysis, I was laying there for maybe 5 minutes. I do get it a lot too.
