Waking up instead of getting Lucid

I've got a problem: I started LDing last week and had 3 LDs in 4 days, but they suddenly stopped. Normally I'd just keep trying, but I've had some dreams in which I realized I was dreaming and instead of becoming lucid everythig went black and I woke up. I don't even get a chance to rub my hands or focus on the scenery.
Some details: they're DILDs (WILDing just keeps me up), I get them in the morning and I don't get overexcited because I'm lucid.

Has anyone else had this problem?

      Hey there,

This is a very typical experience for beginners. First lucid dreams tend to be extremely short, often resulting in immediate waking up when you become lucid. Don't worry about it, it will go away with practice

Make it your dreamgoal to have longer lucid dreams. Additionally, as soon as you realise you're dreaming, start immediately paying as much attention to your surroundings as you can. See what's there to see, hear what's there to hear, touch the walls, the ground, the trees, the people around you, whatever you can touch. Pay attention to your dream.

The 'lack' of attention to your dream is in my mind what wakes you up. You're so focused on the idea of being lucid, that once you are, your toughts are entirely turned inward. Excited or not, doesn't matter, you're not paying attention to your dream, you're paying attention to the fact that you're lucid. Once you get more used to the experience, you'll stop doing this and be able to start paying more attention to the dream itself.

Additionally, be sure to set yourself dreamgoals. What do you want to do when you become lucid. Often times this will help prolong the lucid dream until the goal is completed.

      Hope that helps!

I just had my first WILD and in the dream I was jumping and shouting "Im dreaming" but then I jumped too high and moved my legs and woke up. Better next time, I'm sure.

I think that the problem you maybe experiencing is that you were expecting a lucid dream like the other nights and you were disappointed to find that you woke up out of the dream when you became lucid. I think that this probably took you by surprise because you were not expecting it. I'd imagine you didn't want it to happen again and with these negative thoughts of it happening again maybe triggered it to happen in most your other dreams in which you became lucid. My advice to you is that you don't expect yourself to become lucid, just be happy if you do become lucid, and your probably going through a bit of a bad luck period, i'm sure the next lucid dream you have will be better. It can happen to all of us at times. I hope your next lucid dream is as good as the previous lucids

I've had some LDs before in which I did those things, they worked pretty good. But now I don't get the chance to do that. The moment I realize I'm dreaming everything goes black and I'm awake.

Yamluver: grats on the first WILD. Keep trying

Lucid Seeker: There aren't really any negative thoughts, just an observation that it has happened a few times now. Probably bad luck... I do have longer greams than usually though, so that's good

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll just keep trying, it'll come back soon enough.

Yay! I had 2 DEILDs this morning, they only lasted for about 5 second but at least I got the chance to do something.

      Problem fixed!
