Hey there,
The idea behind WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) is to keep the mind awake while the body goes to sleep, and the dreams begin. The difference between WILD and other type of Lucid dreams is that you never lose consciousness, so you don't really 'become conscious' of dreaming like in a regular lucid dream. You're simply conscious throughout the entire process.
Now SP, or Sleep Paralysis, is simply what happens when the body goes to sleep. It's a part of the physiology of sleep. So it's not a state that makes WILD easier, it's a state that's utterly necessary, in fact. Every time you go to sleep, your body enters Sleep Paralysis, sooner or later. (unless you have a very rare sleeping disorder)
For some people, it's sooner, meaning they might experience this 'sleep paralysis' before the onset of dreams. For others, it's later, meaning they will never physically experience the sleep paralysis, as by the time it happens the mind is already engaged in its own dream, and no longer consciously tracking the signals the body is sending.
If you keep all that in mind, you will begin to see the relationship between WILDs and Sleep Paralysis. Sleep Paralysis doesn't make WILDs any easier, it's simply an indication that your body is going to sleep and your mind is preparing to dream. The reason why you're experiencing it, is because you're keeping your mind awake and conscious, whereas otherwise you would've likely long since been dreaming by the time it happens.
Hope that helps make sense of it,
