      waking yourself up screaming ?

      Hi guys,

I found this web site, and i was very happy. The beginning started by waking myself up because i was screaming (in my real body). I don't know if was really screaming with my real body or not, it was a few years ago, but i still didn't forget the feeling of it, and my own sound. maybe someone can bring something on it.

Then I had false awakening (dreaming that you are sleeping, then you wake up in your dream, but not in the real life), that freaked me out for a while. Then i had lucid dreams, i could control it, make things appear, it was all sexual, i could make girls appear, and you can imagine the rest.

i read this web site 2 days ago, i did wake up 3-4 times last night after reading through this web site, remembering my dreams, the first one i had control, sexual again and i had physical proof of it afterwards :-) the following ones i didn't control, but remember it, and the last one was very clear. I kind of look forward for tonight again.

i never forget that time where i woke myself up screaming, i was out of breath, and all f***** up after that trust me. it's like i was in a loophole or something, maybe false awakening, and got stock, and i screamed, and woke up, out of breathe totally, i don't know....

let me know what you think or if it happened to you.

I haven't woke up screaming, but I have woke up talking a few words.
I haven't read very much about why it happens, but I think a stressful dream can cause you to scream.
      Are you dreaming?

Wow, what a great find for me! I am not the only one who has had screaming dreams! I would say twice a year or so I wake the neighbors trying to fight my way out of some kind of nightmare, but mostly the dreams I have are trying to get out of a large confusing building, being back in the town where I was when I was young and things like that.

I have also experienced false awakinings and let me tell you, when you think you are awake- and you made a narrow escape from the shadow figure in your dream- only to "Wake up" to him standing at the foot of your bed- then your spouse wakes you for real because you are sitting up in bed screaming but still asleep.....wow, thank god I only have had a few of those, you can't fall asleep after that for a while. Waking up twice is hard to wrap your brain around.

Sometimes I realize I am dreaming and that is awesome, because then I can control things. I sometimes find that old girlfriend and have some fun, sometimes I kick someone in the head just because I can. Last time I jumped about 10 feet high and kicked someone square in the ear- I have no idea why, I am not a violent person in real life. I once suddenly realized I was dreaming in a formal social setting and prmptly told everyone to f-off and flipped them all the bird! That was a little crazy, but hey. I have also fought my way out of a nightmare by realizing I was dreaming, and that is great.

My biggest problem is staying asleep, or lucid, or whatever. Because once I realize it and do something crazy, I wake up. Has anyone tried the spinning technique decribed on here? I am curious if it works, because if I could control dreams for longer than 5 minutes, that would rule.

Hey one more thing- Has anyone ever has a SMELL carry over into the awake world? I once saw a woman in a dream, and she smelled like a certian kind of perfume..... I woke up and went to the bathroom after I woke up......when I came back into my bedroom to get my clothes, the smell was unmistakable and heavy in the air..... I freaked out. I thought it might be a spirit type of thing, but I don't know- Has anyone had a smell crossover?

      That sounds familiar, haya
I recall something about that being possible ... if only I can remember the whole thing.. dammit...
      Memory fails me

Its very unusual I think, but its not all that different from 'seeing' something in your dream that reflects reality.
You can smell things from reality too. Its just less 'usual' because sight is usually our most attuned sense.
