Shower me with greetings, for I am new.

      Hello!

Like many people I've lurked around this site for a while but never registered. Since poking through some information around here a few months ago, I've had 3 lucid dreams, which I guess is pretty successful for a beginner.

I was so excited after having my first lucid dream I kept coming back here. It makes me feel amazing all the next day because it's such an unusual experience.

I became interested after reading the book The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot. He builds a theory that essentially states all of reality is something similar to a dream being maintained by all of the universe's inherent intelligent consciousness', or God, if you would like. It sounds new-age and metaphysical, and is to some degree but it's a great book I'd recommend to anyone.

I hope to learn more from all of you!

Anybody who is familiar with the work of Winsor McKay is certainly welcome around here! Glad to have you.

Essentially I was going to make a thread also but to avoid a very pointless thread, assuming you get a new one ever so often, I'll not only welcome Little Nemo, but to introduce my self.

Hey Little Nemo. You're right, waking from lucid dreams is the best and when I wake from one I don't feel tired at all.

      Greetings

Hi and welcome to Little_Nemo and Xenzaka!

I thought Little_Nemo's thread was the most original and funny out of all the newbie posts and since (s)he showed such friendliness to Xenzaka’s jacking I thought maybe (s)he (in his/her exuberant amicableness) would allow one more novice to tag along?

I also found the prospect of creating my own solitary, prefatorial post a little too intimidating and I thought I'd avoid it and (following in Xenzaka’s great shoes) avoid adding yet another new post to the never ending list of newbie posts by shortly introducing myself here.
So here goes: My lucid dream count is four over a time period of probably six months. The events and places in the dreams have been quite mundane (so I won’t describe the dreams), but the experience in itself, the moment when I’ve realized or rationalized that I’m dreaming has been surreal and overwhelming every time (which is why I’m here, hoping to learn more). I’d like to be able to have lucid dreams more often, but I have a lot of problems with the reality checks and ‘prolonging’ the lucidness. I will probably be putting myself for adoption after the obligatory waiting period of two weeks, so if anyone is interested in helping: adopt me!

And no, I wouldn't mind being showered with greetings either.
*sits tight waiting for possible showers*

      OK, here you go!Ariadne!

I was too shy to make a post when I first came too, so I understand.

Sounds like you have already got a really good start with lucidity. Good luck and I hope you enjoy Dream Views!

      You have a pretty avatar.

      Hi Aria, and welcome!

While adoption does prove helpful for some people, I believe there is enough information and advice on the forum that does not require you to attach yourself to one guide. Should you decide to go with the adoption, keep in mind that there are members of all different backgrounds who have different ways of approaching lucid dreaming. Keep yourself open to input from those who may have a technique which might work for you.

Being new, it's hard to tell "who's who" around here at first. When in doubt don't hesitate to contact a staff member with questions.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing more about your lucid experiences

Thank you for all your welcomes! I’m positively surprised by the abundance of friendliness on this forum.

Thank you Moon Beam! A very adorable welcoming party you made.

True, Tornado Joe. The best results with lucid dreaming probably will be reached by being open to everyone’s contributions to the threads. I think the fact that people here at the forum have such diverse backgrounds socially, culturally and otherwise not only shows the universality of several features of lucid dreaming but helps in creating a good source of diverse and interesting information and experiences. So I’m looking forward to learning something from all of you!
About the adoption: It was my intention to read as many threads as possible about the things that I’m most interested in and try to seek out the most like-minded person and see if they’d like to adopt. The idea was that if I had a friend or some sort of confidant(e) I might be more inclined to post thoughts and questions. I’m more of an introvert and am not that comfortable/confident when talking to new people , so a parent might have helped me with that. But I have two weeks to build up my confidence and start conversing. If I’m still struggling after that I’ll consider the adoption again. But thank you for the advice and welcoming me!

Indeed it is going to be hard telling “who’s who” what with the 13000+ members…

*showers Gwydion with greetings* Because everyone deserves at least a couple of showers of greetings . (I don't know how to put those fancy smilies yet, sorry ).

Don't worry, a lot of those don't frequent the forum (they make an intro thread, posted 3 times, and left). There's only 1600 active members (posted in the last 30 days), so that makes it easier
