      New...asking for help

First off, Hi! I'm Kordan, and I am VERY new to this. I think that I have had lucid dreams before, but that has only happened a few times a long time ago. Now I am coming to this to see if I can control my dreams.

I am just starting, and I need some help with dream recall. I think that my main problem is waking up to an alarm. Usually on weekends when I do not have school I remember my dreams more. I only sometimes remember them on weekdays, except for literally about three seconds, but then they go away before I can write them down. I have started verbally telling myself that I WILL remember my dreams in the morning, but it does not work after my alarm goes off. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks,

      -Kordan

A lot of people will trll you to start a dream journal, this for some has worked wonders. I always find waking up 5/6 hours into sleep for 5 minutes then going back to bed for the rest of the night increases the vividness of dreams and my recall. But for some it is trial and error.

I'm sure others will have more to say, so I will welcome you to the forum Good luck

      Hey Kordan,

First off to the forum, its good to see some more enthusiastic members joining. Okay, i think that the problem your experiencing is that you think that chanting sucess words will work, you want it to work, you expect it to work, it works for some but not for others, for many (including me) it can have the opposite affect, people can expect results and after one failure it can lead to a reoccuring failure. My suggestion to you is that you do not force yourself or expect too much, try making sure that remembering your dreams is the first thing on your mind in the morning when you wake. When you awake take a nice deep breath, don't move, just stay calm and relaxed and most importantly do not think about the day ahead, just keep your thoughts centered on what happened between falling asleep and waking in the morning, with this clear state of mind things will come to you Best of luck!

Wow!, thanks to all of you for your very prompt responses, and your warm welcome
You all have had great advice, and I will try it all out.
PS, I have just recently started a dream journal, but didn't have much to put in it. Hopefully now I will.
