hi im new. didnt know there was such a community

hi there. my name is ross, and i am from ireland. i have experienced lucid dreams before, but never really had that much of an interest.
i have suffered from sleep paralysis for many years, and it has always terrified me, but i never thought of looking it up on the net.
the last few days, i have experienced it multiple times a night, and now it happens to me minutes after lying down with the intention of going asleep.
i have never TRIED to lucid dream before, but after i snapped out of the paralysis last night, i got on the net and read about it for a few hours.
i became excited to learn that sp (sleep paralysis) can be used to induce lucid dreams, so i tried it, and it worked first time.
do i share my experience here??
i was able to influence my dream to a degree. it was exhilarating.
i hope this is the start of a new chapter in my life

      Hey welcome to the forum.

Cant say I have experienced this, although my experiences with Sleep Paralysis has only ever been in the morning before waking up.

Hello and welcome! I'm relatively new here myself, and I'm in a similar situation where I've had LDs for quite a long time.

I used to have SP a lot when I was a kid, but I don't anymore. Using it as a tool for LD-ing is great, and you should work with it for sure!

      Again, welcome!

thanx for the welcome guys. i have a feeling ill be posting on this forum quite a bit. its great to find that its not just me......the joys of the internet i guess
i'll just point out that after waking from the sp and looking all this up on the net, i consciously tried to have a lucid dream, but i did not get the sleep paralysis. i went straight from awake to lucid dream. i knew when i crossed over when i got this really relaxed feeling, and then the weidest sensation of simultaniously turning around and dropping through the bed, down into freefall/ flying through water or viscous air. i was conscious to some degree, and tried to steer it towards driving a formula 1 car (because im a car nut) but instead, i was kind of swimming around an unknown medium when i met a girl i know. i tried to visualise another girl i know, and did it successfully. i kept trying to have sex with her, but the dream was fighting me.
then i woke up with an erection and a rapid heartbeat.

im certain that this was my first ever intentional lucid dream, and i am really excited because i think i can enter this state at will. does this sound feasable??

Since I found this site, and discovered what I was doing for years was in fact lucid dreaming I found it hard to enter SP again. I am yet to experience it like I did before I joined this site.

As for entering at will - I am sure it can be done. I have my own technique for getting lucid and has always worked for me, often with multiple lucid dreams in a night

Welcome to the community Ross! I'm new myself but I have found it to be a very friendly and open place which really does encourage it's members.

As for LDing at will, it's certainly something I can do, it's just the number of LDs that vary. For me, I just work at it hard, experiment with stuff that may enhance my LDs such as different foods and see what happens.
