      Help

This is my first ever post and I'm confused on a few things.

First off I think the idea of controlling your dreams is awesome. I just want to know, however, if it's a safe thing to do. If I become lucid could I fall into the dream so much that I won't wake up?

Also if I have control, does that mean I could stop a scary situation if I encountered one or would I have to endure it? I know that if I have nightmares I always wake up, so I don't want to become lucid and be forced to live through what I usually don't have to.

Basically I'm turned off by stuff that I don't have control over. I.e. I'm pretty freaked out at being "put under" for surgery (never happened to me obviously) and I haven't smoked or done any drugs purely on the fact that I don't want to experience not having control.

Hope I'm making sense. So if any of you have any helpful answers I'd appreciate it.

      Welcome hawk!

      It's perfectly safe! Well almost.

It is just as safe as normal dreaming because it is a natural function of the human brain.

LET ME WARN YOU THOUGH: Having your first lucid dream will forever change your concept of reality. But for the better!

It is really a mind expanding experience!

Why do people always think that? It doesn't happen.

Eventually your body would be like:
"Oh, f*@k this... I'm hungry and numb and my arm hurts from being in this position and I have to pee..."

      And viola! You'd wake up.
These are the tears that I dream about...

I doubt anyone here will be able to answer that fully
      Chances are 'sort of'

Assuming that you could lucid at all in the sort of coma you end up in, you would probably drift in and out of lucidity based on your determination to control the dream world.
After a while you'll probably feel pretty unmotivated about it - but thats just my guess

      almost

i think i almost had one...i remembered spinning if you start to lose your dream and so i think i realized i was dreaming by becoming half concious or awake and I said this is a dream..SPIN so then i did and for some reason i saw a purple sky with lightning flashing all around...the exact same thing as I was thinking.

then i imagined a lightning bolt flash before me and I started climbing it and I actually felt sucked into the dream...so I got scared and immiedetly awoke.

crazy shit...was that a little bit of a lucid dream or am i just imagining stuff?

      WELCOME HAWK!!!!

Don't worry about it, it is much more safe than one would imagine. I have only had one nightmarish LD, and I forced myself awake. The next time something scared me in an LD I assumed a kung fu stand(it gives me confidence, as I know it isn't real and I can control things to my advantage, sort of matrix-style).

I hope we can help you in your road towards lucidity, for you to realize how wonderfull it is and how little risks there are...

      Hello Hawk!!!!

The beautiful thing about Lucid dreaming is that it not only is a great expieriance in itself, but it also seems to improve your general awareness during your concious hours as well!

Impossible. However, you can fall into a dream for a long period of time. Some girl whacked her head on ice and fell asleep for 60 years, despite all efforts to wake her up. Don't let that scare you though, because the chances of it happening again are so slim you're more likely to have an airplane drop out of the sky and hit you on the head.

Yes. When you're lucid, there's no need to run away from things, because it's all just in your mind and is can be dispelled with a thought.
