      Flying

      Hello everyone.

I have recently got back into teaching myself to lucid dream after losing interest a few years back. I find the more I read and think about it the more it happens so joining this forum can only help.

I have great difficulty in controlling my lucid dreams when I realize them but one thing I can do with absolute ease is flying. It's become so common in my dreams that I actually use flying as a test to see if I am dreaming. (don't panic I don't jump from buildings as a test)

My flying speeds are usually pretty slow though but the other night my office chair was in the dream and I tried to fly in that. I was zooming about like a jet plane and woke with a massive smile on my face. I still can't change scenery though so I'll just hang in there and practice plenty more.

I think it's really admirable that you can increase your LD frequency by thinking and reading about them! You're off to a great (second) start, it seems! Dream control is highly sought after, but is very difficult to totally master, even for most natural LDers. Like Woho said, hang in there, and practice all the time!

Most people have a single skill that they are really good at. Yours appears to be flying

      Welcome to the forum simon.

That's great that flying comes so natural to you, it is one of my best things to do in a lucid too. How many lucids do you get then?

well, i am new to ld as well. thought it was a freak occurance until i googled controlling my dreams. so far when has occured, i flew to escape a nuke blast, flew and in mid flight generated an entire city for a few seconds, and blasted a "demon" with a dbz style mega blast. that was the SP event that started all my LDs. trippin stuff man.

      Hi, welcome to Dream Views.

A natural flyer huh? Nice. I'm not a natural and am very envious of your talent. But keep practicing and you will gain control over other aspects of your dreams. For some reason, I was obssessed with walking through walls in my lucids and kept attempting to do that in a number of them. I eventually got through. It was a simple act but I felt great after I woke up. I imagine once you accomplish a set goal in a lucid you will feel the same. SO don't give up.

      See you around.

A couple weeks ago I had an LD that led me to seek out this site. In the LD I woke up on my living room floor. I immediately knew I was dreaming because I stopped sleeping on my living room floor a few days before (long story). I was amazed at the detail of my living room but I didn't think to look at any text in a book or anything. I pushed off the floor, went up through the apartment above mine (I've been in it and knew what it looked like) and through what I imagined the attic looked like. I went straight up above the city I live in, trying to imagine it realistically as possible. As I gained altitude I imagined an altimeter on my wrist (I'm an experienced skydiver) and tried to match the altitude on the altimeter with the changing perspective as I gained altitude. Once I passed 15,000 feet (the highest I've altitude I've exited an airplane) I started to ascend faster. I tried to imagine what everything would look like as I aproached the edge of space including seeing the curvature of the earth and where I thought the sunlight/darkness boundry would be to the east as dawn was a few hours away. It was pretty amazing, but I think as the whole thing progressed it started to seem less and less real and more manufactured and more like I was just awake and imagining the whole thing. I hope to get another shot at this and improve on it.

Maybe if it felt more real, but it just wasn't there.

One day i'm gonna dream share and race someone =D
Maybe, just for a second, you'll be awestruck.

I'll see you at the finish line!! Last time I generated a city, i had to fly to escape a pair of I think F-22 raptors. shockwave created smashed the city. one of the most lucid ones I've had yet.

      I do that too!

And I lost a tooth, so when the tooth is loose I am probably dreaming..

Not so god at noting the last there, though...

      Yet!
I know who I am, as I become...
