Was i close and other question

Hi i am 4 nights into lucid practice and last night i was dreaming about some kids in the water who where hiding when someone got up he had clothes on that he never wears! (i know him) and that leads to the second thing he jumped in in full clothes! (he even got a cardigan!) and he was fully dry not a drip of water to be found on him. So i stand still and think by myself: thats weird how is that possible? and then i just kept dreaming! Was i close? and then the 2nd question this day i didn,t practice reality check for 5 hours!!!! so i missed five checks! is that really bad? Happy ld for the once that already ld and for the ones that practice (like me) don,t give up i just know it will be worth it!

By the sounds of things i would say you were definately close, your doing well, if you get more situations like that where you question briefly an event then your more likely to become lucid. Don't feel pressured to do RC's at specific times and even worse don't kick yourself for it if you forget to do one, just stay focused and make sure that you take things in moderation, do as many as you feel happy with, don't over do it

I really don't have much to add to Lucid Seeker's advice. I had a few dreams like yours where I started to question the dream, but didn't actually get lucid. A week after that I started having LDs instead though

Hello there and welcome to Dream Views.

Yes sir, you were close... but no cigar.
That happens to me more often that I'd like to admit, where I think I might be dreaming and then just continue doing whatever it was I was doing. I continually call the dream me a moron since it misses out on a pile of opportunities to become lucid every night.

Keep on questioning things and don't kick yourself in the butt for not reality checking constantly. Overdoing it might hinder instead of help so RC in moderation if possible.
