      I'm too wild to WILD

I've had about 30 attempts at a WILD but i always failed.
According to Billybob_001's guide to end all guides you should remain still until you reach sleep paralysis...
But I can't seem to remain in one position for that long, I counted 22 seconds before I'm restless... It's not just when I'm awake When I sleep I move so much that all of my bed sheets bunch in one spot.

Am I just screwed up or is there something I can do?

AIM me if you have time!!!... I'm needy
Holy crap I just had my first LD 11/25/07

LOL, that's my reason too: "Too wild to WILD", that's great.

Well I haven't figured it out yet either; I can count on one hand the successful WILD's I've had. I just go to sleep. One problem may be that I never WBTB; are you doing that part?

P.S. Luckily you don't need to WILD to lucid dream.

I get that way too, I don't do the WBTB stuff, I just get up for a second then try it. I get to SP pretty regularly, just not into the dream It's okay the HI is fun to watch too.

      Hey there,

First, remember that WILD techniques are just one way of having lucid dreams. There are other methods that you can try. Not every method is suited to everyone. One of the first things any lucid dreamer has to do is figure out what works for him/her and what doesn't.

That said, if your heart it set on WILDs and corresponding exercises, I'd advise you to simply try and improve a little bit each night. If you can lie still until you reach the count of 22 this night, then try and reach the count of 25 tomorrow, and once you've managed that, try 30 next week, and so on.

Patience and persistance can get you very far, but it's important to set yourself small achievable goals, step by step, rather then immediately setting some very out of reach way down in the future goal. Work towards that last one, a little bit at a time.

      Just my 2 cents,

      -Redrivertears-

I'm trying to perfect a technique for us twitchy WILDers and since I haven't had a real WILD yet I want to see if I'm on the right track.
Let em walk you through it:
I was sitting in my bed, eyes lightly closed and relaxing as hard as i could (I know oxymoron).
So I concentrate as hard as I can on my breathing, whenever my mind strays I focus all thought on my breathing.
I suddenly have a serious urge to move but I focus.
My right foot and my left hand go numb, I can't feel them at all.
But finally I get too twitchy and move...crap

Was I on the right track?

      Hi ArchOn.
I was playing with relaxation and sleep paralysis a little and found out, that if I want too much it wont came. Thats pretty disturbing I know. The brain is like a machine, which has problems when it is forced. Do you know firewall that protects your computer from intruders. I have one vision about firewall blocking traffic which is too fast and letting only slow traffic enter the computer.
This is just the way the mind works. If you want it to work too much on something, It wont move. You have to make the brain think it is fully normal the state you are currently in. Now to your case.

You know what you want. You want wild. You want it wild. And becouse you want it so much the brain formulates instant wish. I WANT IT NOW. I WANT THE WILD now. {Just like a kid would}. And this creates the must-feeling which automatically brings negative protective reaction {action-reaction}.

Next time try this one internal dialogue: Now I am going to do a little sleep paralysis. It will be fun. But my little brainie. If you dont want it now... No problem. You will learn overtime. But what if we try some relaxation first. Dont worry it will be superb The key aspect is just to be correct with yourself. Your brain only does what you tell it with respect. I call it diplomacy within.

      And what you have written.
"But finally I get too twitchy and move...crap". I wouldnt insult your abilities this way. Let them develop with faith and believe in yourself. You will do it.

"According to Billybob_001's guide to end all guides you should remain still until you reach sleep paralysis...
But I can't seem to remain in one position for that long, I counted 22 seconds before I'm restless..."
Of course you can. You just built a block within which fires when you get nervous. And you get nervous when the time limit comes. But the time is not what matters here. What matters is the feeling that to lie still is fully natural. Often it helps, when you navigate your brain away from thinking about the outer world. People say that you should listen to your breathing when doing this exercise. Thats true. But you may have question. Why it doesnt work? Becouse you force yourself. Just calm down. Take it as a game and make it that way. Prepare yourself, prepare that game feeling, that funny little idea: Doesnt matter what comes out of this game. I am going to forget about the world. I am going to forget about the unsuccessfull attempts. Those were the ones which were too adult. Now I am to be a child. The results doesnt matter. What counts is the fun. Oh hell I feel good.

Awake the child in you. Do it simply. Let it grow. Just let it, dont force it. And the wilds will come. I cannot guarantee, when they will come, but I can guarantee, that if you force them, they wont.

      Good luck.
