      Eyes shaking?

Hi, I'm a complete n00b in the matter of lucid dreaming. I never really achieved it since I always wake up before getting control. I tried, for my first real time, the WILD technique. I kept my concentration on my technique and soon got kinda paralysed. Not that I couldn't move but i just didn't for some reason. Then my eyes started shaking really bad even tough they were closed. It was kinda scary and I wondered if it is normal? Thanks
I would also want to know whats the easiest technique to achieve LD for a complete beginner and if they're are any drugs that could enhance the experience ? I heard a drug called melatonin (OTC) that could help.

      Hello,
I'm not too sure about the eyes shaking, but i would say that WILD isn't the ideal technique for a first time trier.
Have you started a dream journal to improve your recall of dreams? This is probably what you should start off with, before attempting to induce LDs. You can learn about recall here.
As for the LD drugs, i have no experience with them but i would stay away from them. I personally don't believe there is a drug that can induce lucid dreams...but i might be wrong
There is vitamin B6, which is meant to help with dream recall and to increase vividness, but again, I think it's best to stick to more natural methods.

      I see.
Well the most important thing when you realize you are dreaming is to stay calm. If you manage to stay in the dream long enough then stare at your hands or touch your surroundings to stabilize your lucidity. Sometimes if you can't help yourself from waking up from a dream it can be false awakening. Do a reality check just to make sure you're really awake

      Hi,
I just scared myself awake after experiencing the same (shaking eyes) and it made me feel so awake, I thought I could just as well subscribe here and post about it. I feel glad that I'm not alone

Could the shaking eyes be the oncoming of REM (rapid eye movement)? If so, there's nothing you can do about it because you need REM to dream...

      Anyway, to the forum!

Something similar has happened to me also last night.
My eyes were shaking all over the place and felt as if sand were in the insides of my lids and were brushing on my eyes yet it didnt hurt

Maybe it is just nystagmus. This can happen when under the influence of certain substances also. Look into it and see if that is what you're problem is.

Either that, or maybe you are holding your eyes shut too tightly, or you are rolling them back slightly too much or too little.

This is all I can think of.

even though i do take shamanic drugs like salvia and such (legal), epic dream looks to me like being another thing to experience alone before combining it with other things. My eyes were shaking strangely but im gonna try it back tongiht

I think I experience the same thing; it's like, your eyes just bug out and won't stay still? And it kind of even hurts a little, so much that you have to open your eyes so you can focus on something so the shaking will stop. Something like that? If that's the case, the only I can do is either open my eyes and focus on something or just go with the shaking until it stops. I've had a hard time focusing on stopping the shaking while my eyes are closed though. This usually happens to me when I'm not mentally tired - if I'm tired though, the shaking usually never happens.

Attanasi, there aint no such thing as "kinda paralyzed". If you are paralyzed you are unable move even if you want to.

Hmm, strange. There is a phenomenon called "eye flutter" that is commonly observed in subjects going into hypnosis. Could it have been that?

There certainly are drugs that can induce lucid dreams, but melatonin is not very effective in that regard. The only mechanism by which melatonin could help induce vivid or lucid dreams is via the so-called REM rebound effect. Many people on Dreamviews suggest B6, but this is also quite ineffective. If you want to go the chemical route to lucid dreaming there are vastly more effective drugs, many of which are described in the book "Advanced Lucid Dreaming" by Thomas Yuschak. Check out the Lucid Aids forum for more information.

Hmm, no, it happend after my body became paralysed (i know that when I have my hands on my belly, than I go through some kind of falling sensation and don't feel my hands anymore, but still know I'm breathing. After that, a kind of blackness fell down from above, allmost touching me, but then my eye started going from left to right really fast (was it REM? I guess so...). I could not enter 'through' the blackness and got nervous about that, so that's when I woke up.

I'll just try again this night, hopefully with more result. Every night there has been a little progress, overcoming the fear of the first sensations of SP.
