Hey guys. I've been lurking these forums for a month or so now, and I finally signed up. I've been trying to LD for about two months, and lately my dream recognition is way up. I can EXTREMELY vividly recall 3-4 dreams a night, which is great, because I used to think that I didn't dream at all. The past few nights I've realized that I might be dreaming, and I've gotten some control over my body, but I can't think hard enough to realize that I'm definitely dreaming, so it seems like I'm just dreaming in High-Def and I'm not really there. I've been trying the WILD technique, but I can't keep my mind between that level of activity and non-activity to stay awake up to sleep paralysis. I really don't think I've even come further than 10 minutes. I've also tried giving myself 2-4 hours of sleep, but due to unreliable alarm clock/tired self being trigger happy on the off button, I'm really getting nowhere with that. What I'm really looking for is a mantra or any technique I could use to keep my mind active. I've tried breath-counting, and some LD-related phrases, no luck. I'm going to stay up for about a half hour longer. If any pros are awake, please go ahead and post your technique. I'd really like to have my first intentional LD tonight. If no one sees this until tomorrow, I'll probably have tried some half-ass thing. Anyway, thanks for all the posts that I've read from you guys, and I hope I'm here for awhile.

      Hey there, to Dreamviews!
Sounds like you're off to a good start. 3-4 dreams per night is really good!

Well, like I said, I'm looking for a technique to keep my mind from sleeping. Do you have any technique for your LDs, or are you using a different method?

I've been really lazy about my lucid endeavors, just RC for me...

Try staying up for longer during your WBTB. It's usually not enough to just wake up from your alarm, stay in bed, and go back to sleep. Try getting up for 5-10 minutes, and browsing DV or something. If you're still too tired and you fall asleep too quickly, then increase the time.

I'm glad I could help! Walkling around is good, most people go get a glass of water or go to the bathroom. Browsing DV is also good as it gets your mind on LDing.

Anyway, good luck tonight. I'm off to bed now...

Hi there and welcome to DV.

Do you see Hypnagogic imagery (these are images that come as impulses during the onset of a hallucinogenic state. Usually before or after sleep. Sometimes through meditation)

If you experience this, you could try the HIT method found in the tutorial section. This is the one I first attempted and had great success with. It's here, http://www.dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=13497.
I must add, it works excellently when napping during the day or first thing in the morning if you have a few spare minutes to go back to sleep.

Other than that, practice reality checking as well. If you're having such vivid dreams RCing may come in very handy.

      Good luck.
