      types of lucidity

First post here just wondering if anyone would like to confirm my two experiences with rolling out of my body...only have been able to do this twice... but will not soon forget it.. or stop attempting ...

The rolling happened when i was lying down to go to sleep, once on my back with my legs bent and once on my right side, both times the same thing happened, the second time i knew it what was going to happen... I slowly relazed and felt a buzzin vibration, (eyes closed) and then rolled out of my body, but still in the shape of my body, unable to change the shape, and it only lasted a few seconds, then i would do a slide in this position in a cirlce and then enter back into my body... The scariest part was piecring through the vibratory veil, that i could feel increasing in its buzz until i was, there...

Totally different feeling than the lucid dream i had only once.. where i realized i was dreaming and then proceeded to find a lady friend...

      Hey sideroller, to Dreamviews!

Sounds like you had an encounter with hypnogogia, if I understand you correctly. Vibrations and "rolling" out of your body are common symptoms of the hynogogic state. Were you attempting to WILD? Because that's usually when hynogogia takes place.
It can also happen when you're not trying to WILD though, it's just less common.

If you have any other questions just ask

      hypnogogia

hmm, never even heard of it, but i know for sure that i was definitely out of my body, and i find it funny that the only shape ive ever known, the shape of my body, was the shape i was in, meaning i felt like i had a body, but i could see also that i was out of my body...the vibratory introduction to the whole experience was a bit frightenting the first time bit the second time i knew what to expect... would really like to do it again...at least once this year...

There are mixed beliefs about it, but what you're describing sounds like an OBE (out of body experience). Some people believe that OBEs are really good LDs (myself included), but others believe that you're separating your astral self from your body.
http://dreamviews.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=19, that's the forum to ask about OBEs .

      Hallo Thar

Your name is appropriate for your prior "rolling-out-of-body" experiences, Sideroller!

I would like to ask: Have you ever attempted to roll out of your body, only to find yourself rolling your real body? I haven't been able to actually roll out, but I'd like to; usually such attempts will only end my sleep paralysis (the vibrations you described) if repeated...

Other than that, have you ever tried dream incubation? It's where you tell yourself before sleep what you'd like to dream about. It's almost like a form of self-hypnosis; it could perhaps make your dreams more out-of-the-ordinary, and thus make them easier to recognize as dreams. Just a thought.

I have tried that and it does work most of the time, it just takes a lot of work to not get distracted with other thoughts.

I am very interested in this hypnogogia, i just found out that i have been having for a few months now.
