how to control a night terror?

ever since i was about 16 ive been having really bad dreams, most of the time i dont even remember having them but when i do i remember the fealing of being trapped. usually when i have these i end up trying to jump out of a window in my house to get out. ive broken windows. kicked doors down, and even knocked over book shelves just to get of what ever im trapped in. my girlfriend tells me that i start screaming and yelling "get off me" or "let me out". ive been having them alot lately and she tells me that i go to sleep right away after it happens and im really hard to wake up afterwards. any thoughts?:

Controlling Night Terrors... Controlling Nightmares is one thing, but Night Terrors are a whole different agenda.

What your girlfriend should try to do is reassure you. Tell her that should it happen, to try to comfort you. You may want to check out
this page and show it to your girlfriend incase you have another. Perhaps if can help.

If this happens very often I would talk to a professional about it just to see if they have any suggestions for helping you with this. It's pretty bad if you are known to get violent - what if you hurt your partner? In the meantime, try to get in a routine of doing meditation or other relaxing activities... maybe go jogging a few times a week. See if that helps!

Hi lessirkilion. I used to have frequent night terrors. Then I tried self-hypnosis and that fixed the problem. You might want to try it.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it may be better to see a professional hypnotherapist about this, unless you are already experienced in self-hypnosis and know what you're doing.
