Hi, new guy here

Hi, my name's Chris (though some people call me Carlos). Some people from another message board that I'm a member of mentioned this site, so I figured I'd sign up. I had no idea there was such a strong lucid dreaming community. I'm 27 (turning 28 next week) and I've been "lucid dreaming" since I was about 7-8 or so. I used to have terrible nightmares when I was a child, and it seems that I learned how to lucid dream as a defense mechanism. While I have good to excellent control, a lot of the time I'll just sit in a dream and see where it takes me, only intervening when things are going in a direction I don't want to go in. I probably take active control of a dream 3-4 times a week. I'm interested in this site because I'd like to hear about everyone's experiences, and possibly refine my techniques, since when I take full control of my dreams, I wake up very tired in the morning, and sometimes have slight headaches. So, feel free to ask me whatever, I'm a pretty open person. And...go!

Hey maybe the headaches thing is related to your diet? Or maybe an advil or something before bed might help.

Thanks everyone. I think I figured it out about my headaches. I tend to sweat a lot when I sleep, so when I have headaches in the morning, it's usually due to dehydration. I've been having an extra glass of water before bed lately and I haven't had the problem in quite some time. I also don't sleep in as late...

Hey Chris, The water thing is a good thing to do...as you know or maybe not I do it too. Though I also tend to chug water when I wake up. I'm glad you don't get headaches in the morning, cause headaches tend to make you cranky! I hope to learn a lot more about lucidity and LD from you. Well the sweating while asleep seems to be a common guy thing. It seems their body temperature rises. This isn't a scientific fact but rather from experience and from talking with male friends and acquaintances. I wonder though if the rise in body temperature during the night has anything to do with the types of dreams we have. As when I've had a particularly vivid/intense dream I find that in the morning or in the night when I wake up I'm sweaty too.

Welcome, Carlos ! You sound very similar to me in a couple of ways - eg. the nightmares and the early start on lucid dreams. You seem to be doing really well in fact! Hopefully we can all learn from each other
