Knowing Im dreaming, but unable to change anything

My life has been a trainwreck since Katrina, and I forgot all about lucid dreaming until a few days ago.

Before Katrina, I've had dreams where I knew I was dreaming. One time, I backtracked through my day & realized I never really woke up. The other times, I looked at some text, which changed when I looked again.

But even though I knew I was dreaming, I didn't have any control. I tried making a door appear on a house, tried making people appear, even tried changing the color of things. Eventually, I gave up and decdied to just have fun running amock.

I havent been able to have a lucid dream since I restarted. I've been doing the reading test a lot during the day in hopes I'll start to do it in my dreams. I think I'm starting to do the test in my dreams, but no luck yet making the connection that Im dreaming.

Im starting to ramble so let me wrap this up. What can I do to give me that control that really defines a lucid dream? I'm going to search the forums, but is the reading test the best way to induce lucid dreams?

You should have more then just one thing to do, when trying to game lucidity.

Make a routine, and that may help out some more, include things like looking in mirrors, turning on light switches, looking at your hands, pinching yourself.
""I wonder why people just don't swim when it rains - what difference does it make"" - A narrator in a dream I had.
