      night terrors

Night terrors and sleep walking are closely related as both occur during stage four sleep, the deepest stage of sleep. Children generally grow out of them and pervasive night terrors in adults is not considered normal. Causes vary: being over tired, over-eating just prior to sleep, stress and the use of certain although widely defined drugs. While frightening for the observer the dreamer suffers little harm unless allowed to bang into walls or furniture. The dreamer also, typically but not always, does not recall the event. Check out www.nightterrors.org it has a good deal of info. You may have to lose one of the 'T's'. The whole name is Night Terrors Resource Center.

I had night terrors are a kid, and also experienced sleep walking once. Neither are very pleasant experiences, and lead to a lot of confusion due to the fact it happens at a young age.

Need any specifics just ask, I think I have it down fairly well.

Apology. I didn't mean to imply that they were pleasent or not frightening. I was simply giving what I guess was too clinical of an answer. Please forgive the callousness. My brother used to sleep walk and it was un-nerving at best. I was trying to say that unlike some sleep disorders the result of childhood night terrors was typically not overtly damaging to the sufferer. Geesh that sounds bad as well...I'm just not getting off on a good foot here am I?
