      Trying To Bring It Back

When I was young (about 6 or 7) every dream was lucid, I had full control over everything! What a rush, I could be anyone and do anything, Make my dreams last longer, be a hero, or be in a game.

But I am now 16 and sad to say I have lost the ability, I am here to try and reattain it, I thought that it was a natural thing everyone could just do, until that gift left me. I hope to get this ability back, in fact I don't often dream anymore :/ Something I'm not too happy about.

I found some computer programs in another topic on this forum, and hope that the RC's will be able to help me in my attempt. I will try it tonight and post my results tomorrow. The hard thing is I don't fall asleep as quickly as I used too, I fear that this may also make a lucid dream a harder goal to achieve.

      EDIT

Also when I was younger there was one dream I could not control once a week I dreamed I was claiming my stairs and then the stairs would fall (like in scooby-doo) and at the bottom was a pit with something to kill me! Fire, peronas, snakes, sharks, etc.
Why did I dream this and what did it mean? Also if I become lucid again will such dreams come back to me?

Hi...it could be the way U think as U get older and STRESS of living in the real world... I used to be able to dream what I wanted easily when I was younger but now it's very difficult. I found out it was largely caused by my thinking...it had shifted from believeing anything as real or possible to only afew things are possible untill proven as real. Maybe U lost faith in ScoobyDoo and the unreal and lost lucid dreaming with it...just my 2 cents... Doing RCs all day long is the hardway to get LDs...I think U should go deeper into what U believed in when U were younger...U'll have to do some 'inner work' to figure out what made U have LDs everynight.

Hello "Hopingforlucidreams" (now thats a mouthfull) and welcome to Dreamviews.

Lucid dreams mostly occur during REM sleep which is after you have had a good sleep already or during a "nap".

My advise is DONT try to LD. I disagree to what was said in the previous post. RC's and dream recall are the basic essentials of lucid dreaming and you need to get stuck into those two skills and let the LD come to you as it did when you were younger. If you try to LD now and fail it will result if frustration, anxiety and disappointment, factors that will inhibit your ability to LD.

Your bad dreams experience may be effecting your ability to LD now. If they do come back to you then with help and advise from Dreamview members you should be able to control the bad dream and turn it into a pleasant one. If you keep a positive attitude towards achieving that result, the LD's may come back naturally.

Hope I have been some help and again, Welcome.

      Exclamation

      Hey I'm back been busy

I think my poor sleeping habits are to blame, I never thought much of it until last weekend. I stayed up 3 days straight! And the only got an hour of sleep the next day. Although I'm currently getting more sleep I still go to bed after 12AM and get up at 5AM, on the weekends if I sleep that is I go to bed a 4AM and get up ad about 2PM My sleep is so messed up no wonder I'm having problems having any kind of dream....

Not to mention all the stress at school....
I close to failing for the year (just in my voed class) and losing my certificate.....

None of this can be good for my health....
