      Hello

Hey everyone. I'm new to all this. In fact this is my first time registering for any forum on any subject. However, I've been interested in dream recall and attaining lucidity for many years now. I believe I had my first lucid dream last night and I am excited to hone that skill down in order to have more productive dreams. I will focus first on dream recall by starting a dream journal. Hopefully I will be posting lots of lucid experiences. Any tips and suggestions are welcome.

      Hi Gritty, Welcome!

Anything you can tell us of this dream which you think was lucid? There may be some clues in there that can help you in future lucids.

      My First LD

Tornado, I will describe the dream I had and maybe you all can help determine if it was lucid. Keep in mind that I don't remember the majority of the dream just the last few moments. But it was in that time I believe I achieved lucidity.

      My First LD

After a series of events I found myself in my apartment with Joel and Jason. We were simply lounging around on the couches talking about how we should move in together to save money. I decided to go outside to my porch to have a smoke. Immediately I realized that someting was off, because my normally concrete porch was now a freshly tilled dirt flowerbed. (At that point I became consciously aware that I had to be dreaming). I then noticed that the cigarette in my mouth became a Chapstick brand lip balm. Yet another sign that things were not right. I thought to myself that I must be having a lucid dream and challenged myself to jump off my porch to street level, eight steps below. I was apprehensive at first but reassured myself that I was dreaming and I wouldn't get hurt. I jumped, and did so in a weightless, bounding manner. I was exhilirated. But, then I felt myself trying to hold on, knowing that I was about to wake up. I wanted to stay and experiment a bit more. I then woke up. (Interestingly, upon waking I physically [I]felt[I] myself getting sucked back into the real world).

So that was it. I will be starting a dream journal to record my regular dreams as well as the lucid ones that hopefully will materialize.

Yep, that part sounds about right to me - you're excitement was likely what woke you up.
