Hey guys! I am new to LDing and am very interested. I cant wait for my first LD. I have one question as far as RCs go. I do the "am i dreaming?" RC frequently. Should i do this RC in my head or aloud? Anyway thanks for your help and its nice to be in this nice and friendly community! Thanks

Welcome to DV!

You should do whatever seems to work for you. If you think that saying it aloud is more effective, then you should do so.

Different techniques for for different people.

I never ask whether or not I'm dreaming. I do a memory reality check. I try and think back and remember how I got to where I am and what I had done previously. If I can't then I'm dreaming.

I never do RC out loud. I try to do them everywhere, on the bus, at work, so I think saying them out loud would be a little strange for people. But I think if you really concentrate on what you're saying you should be ok. And maybe you can switch to saying it out loud when you're at home or something.

I personally do them in my head, so people don't think I am crazy.

When I'm alone at home I'll do them out loud though.

Hi and welcome.

I'd say be on the safe side and do the check in your mind. It'll save you from looking like you're nuts.

On the other hand, if you don't care go ahead and ask out loud if you're dreaming. Or do one of the physical reality checks. Sometimes I'll do one right in public for the WTF factor.
