Hello (for lack of a more original thread title)

Hello! I've been checking these forums since Friday after school, when for some reason I got an urge to re-check Lucid Dreaming... I was looking into it before, but never really tried it.

Friday Night, I got into a dream about Bioshock, a game for Xbox 360... I think I chose to go to this one area that I have been wanting to revisit for some time, but I'm not sure if I chose to go there or if my dream state chose to go there.

Well, yesterday, I was just lying in bed, waiting to sleep. I go to sleep trying to do the WILD method. I know you're supposed to sleep for 4-5 hours before trying, but I went to bed too late to try that. Anyways, I was there, and I felt this wierd sensation in my legs, moving up and down, like small needles (not painful). Then I kept hearing Another Brick in The Wall (Part 2) by Pink Floyd, but just a part over and over. It wasn't like a song stuck in my head, it was like actually hearing it...

Again, I think I was in control tonight... I started dreaming about being in a war, but when someone shot at me, I teleported above the battlefield, over some sort of water-barrier. There, I noticed that I was dreaming. But I moved to some other place, where I had to collect Yams (the vegetable. Crazy, I know.) to move on. I never moved on, but found steak in the process of exploring the place (a seemingly abandoned village), and it tasted quite delicious. I think it's the first time I've tasted something in a dream.

When I woke up, it was the first time I remembered to write in my dream journal.

I just thought I'd post this, as I don't really know anyone outside of the internet that is interested in this. Although I will be speaking to one of my friends, who basically explained his excellent dream recall to me.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Congratulations on your lucid dream. The sensation you felt in your legs was sleep paralysis, and the music is a common hypnogogic hallucincation (things that you see or hear when in sleep paralysis).

If you'd like, you can keep a dream journal online, here at Dreamviews. That way you can share your dreams and people can comment on them.

And don't worry about the thread title - this is the forum for introductions, after all!

Very interesting about the steak! Come to think of it, I don't remember ever tasting anything in a dream, either. Might just be that I can't remember it though.. I think you might have to enter the dream world to find a good steak anywhere near where I live..

The weird sensation in your legs sounds like the "vibrations" many people hear when entering a WILD. It definitely sounds like you're in the right mindset to start attaining lots of interesting lucid dreams!

Great, I'll look into making an online dream journal as well. I find it easier to write with a keyboard anyways.

Oh I remember what I wanted to ask.

On school nights, I don't really want to wake up after 5 hours for a WILD, in case I can't sleep at all anymore. So I was wondering if you think it's possible to enter the Lucid Dreaming state from wakefulness? Especially late at night.

I read something about Caffeine, that it helps, and I forgot where/how it helps. Anyone have an idea?
EDIT: Caffeine supposedly makes you act out your dreams... I'll try to avoid that then.

Also, for the Reality Check, do analog watches work as well when looking at them in a dream?

No to both. When you first go to bed you can't WILD because the first stage of sleep doesn't include dreams, it's deep sleep. You can, however reenter a dream lucidly after waking up as long as you don't move. Look up the DEILD technique, you won't loose any sleep.

Caffeine can't make you act out your dreams, you are paralyzed. It will lighten your sleep though.

Hope to read your dream journal soon.
