      Hey there,
I'm glad I've finally found a forum about lucid dreaming because I doubted there is any on the net. So, let me introduce myself. My first lucid dream was when I was a kid (maybe 13 years) and it was so clear I was in a shock because I didn't know how it is possible to have so vivid dream. Lately I'm having lucid dreams like every second night and some of them are Very clear ones - as the same as reality. I DON'T do any drugs, alcohol or smoking, by the way. It came to me pretty naturaly. I can control my dreams, often I just let the dream just "flow" and wait what happens next. I had a few dreams which were clearer and more vivid than reality - which was very fascinating. I think this is quite enough for the introduction.

My first question (of many) is: Is it possible to say my name in the lucid dream? So far I tried in the middle of saying my name something stopped me from doing it and I felt like my head was gonna explode or something like that. It was pretty weird...

And the second one: How is it possible in the lucid dream to see a place I've never been to, or to see faces of people I've never seen before? It's pretty amazing!

      Welcome CloudOne!

You seem to have a good grasp on lucid dreaming.
The saying your name....Absolutely not true. I don't even know how this myth got started. It did however get started and then people began to believe they could not. But that is the only reason you can't. Belief.
That was one thing I did when I heard that. It just did not seem to follow any rule to why. So I yelled at the top of my lungs JASON!

      The latter question.
Are you speaking of true places and faces. Which would entail astral travel of sorts.
Or manifested creations of your subconscious?

      Yeah, Welcome CloudOne!

As Howetzer said, it's quite possible to say your name, the only reason you couldn't is if you believe you couldn't.

I've said my name in a Lucid Dream before, I said it to get my senses about me so that I could rationalise what I wanted to do and everything.
These are the tears that I dream about...

      Welcome To DV's CloudOne.

Yup it sure does seem like you have Lucidity down. It's pretty interesting what you've mentioned about calling your name out, I've never tried it myself but I'm doing it tonight just to see if my experience is the same as yours. In regards to seeing people and places you've never seen. I would think it's noraml in Lucid Dreams just like it is in Normal Dreaming. Even if you are fully conscious I still believe the subconscious is never fully dormant and somewhere it's still playing it's role maybe to the largest detail of the Dream content. You can change the Dream setting consciously as many times as you want but I've always believed the Subconscious keeps it moving. So someone or something is placing these Dream Characters and places in your Lucid world and it's not you doing it.

      See ya around.

First of all, thanks to everyone for a warm welcome.

I see. I thought the solution would be this prosaic but I wasn't so sure as I've read about that it is not possible to say your name in a dream. Maybe this is the same as in the case of so called "UFO Abduction" in USA - people started to see the same gray aliens. I wonder if it is possible to say it now when I know it IS possible.

Are you speaking of true places and faces. Which would entail astral travel of sorts.
Or manifested creations of your subconscious?[/b]
It's both. But the "fake" ones are something I don't understand how it is possible to appear in dreams. Well, I've been to another planet (sounds funny, but it was rather fascinating), for example, and it was very clear dream. The planet was very well designed, weird mountains I could not see before anywhere and the surface wasn't like any other I could see anywhere. In one dream I was on an island (also very vivid) and in the sea there was a ship struggling in the storm. The scene have had very nice colours, different from reality. Recently I dreamt of a tsunami coming to me from both sides and when it was trying to hit me I decided them to stop. I could watch the waves in stopped motion in great details. About the people I believe it can be like I've seen them in reality but can't remember them or I could see them on tv. But the places are great mystery to me. The big question is how can I see them so clearly although they are made up.

I don't believe in Astral plane (I don't even know exactly what it is, only heard of) and such things but I believe that human brain is very powerful to make such things happen. But I don't understand how it can be possible. Any scientists here?

About the brain being so powerful, I think that it solves that I could did these things in my dreams: Change the resolution, Compose (very beautiful) music tune (I'm a music composer btw) just thinking of instruments and playing them by my will, Feel the wind, Eat food, Drink water, Stop time (just recently) and other things I may share in latter discussion.

This place seems to be like a good community. Thanks again for a welcome.

Yes the mind is an amazing thing. Our imaginations are limitless. I think that's how we can see things and visit places we've never seen or been to before. I think that imagination isn't the same for everyone though. I think some people are gifted with very vivid and amazing imaginations. Being a music composer, and an artist in your craft...I bet you have a a great imagination and can therefore do anything in your dreams. There is no impossible. I'm the same way. I have an overactive imagination. I'm an artist and I'm super creative. I can look out my window and imagine things there, even though I've never seen them before. In my lucid dreams...what's amazing is that...my imagination actually becomes REALITY. Pretty awesome isn't it? Oh, and welcome to the forum.
