Lucid Dreaming Problems

I'm new to posting on here, but I've read these forums for information on Lucid Dreaming ever since I had first heard of it. I do have a few questions that I would like answered: 1. I have A LOT of trouble keeping my mouth still when trying to WILD. This may not be something you want to hear but it's a problem. I have so much mucus build up over time that swallowing and moving my mouth around to get it comfortable again is the only option I have. I'm wondering if swallowing is a big deal when trying to WILD. 2. I have been keeping a Dream Journal for a month or two now, but after reading back on it looking for dream signs (and often doing reality checks) I still can't seem to become Lucid. In my dreams I am so out of it I have difficulties just remembering what happened, let alone recognize I'm dreaming. 3. How important is keeping a regular sleeping pattern? If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated! If it is of any importance I have become lucid before, but that is what made me interested in the topic. It was an accidental and one time thing, but I'm not sure if that could affect anything. Thanks

It usually stresses avoiding bodily reflexes like swallowing your saliva as it tends to defeat the WILD. However, others say it has no effect on the difficulty of the WILD for them at all. 2. In my dreams I am so out of it I have difficulties just remembering what happened, let alone recognize I'm dreaming. This is where the power of reality checking comes in. You should make reality checking a habit in your waking life, constantly checking if you're dreaming. Look for things that are "off" or aren't right. Pay special attention to your surroundings and actually look for things that don't make sense. Ask yourself if you're dreaming whenever you can, and try other reality checks like looking at your hands, trying to poke a finger through your palm, plugging your nose and trying to breathe or flicking a light switch. 3. How important is keeping a regular sleeping pattern? It helps greatly. It helps keep your REM phases regular and in balance, thus making it easier to achieve lucidity and most importantly, remember your dreams.

Thanks, I'll try to do reality checks more often than normal. Usually I will do it at random about once every hour if I remember. I have had a WILD before, but I can't remember if I swallowed during it or not, especially because it happened on accident. I think that is my biggest problem of all, but I will try my best to control it.
