      Hello and an "Almost Dreaming"Experience

Hey, I just recently joined the ranks of dreamers and have started working on my dream recall.
Last night I had a strange experience where I couldn't get into a deep sleep and instead of dreaming I went into a strange state where I was semi awake and watching short scenes from the third person. This went on for hours and wasn't very restful.
What what was that and how can I avoid it happening again?

      Hi, and welcome to DV!

Sounds like you experienced hypnagogic imagery, which we often refer to as HI on this forum. It can happen sometimes like that when you are unable to fall properly asleep. It might be easier to fall properly asleep if you get out of bed for a little while and then try to go back to sleep. I know that has helped me when I end up in that state.

      to DreamViews, Stupidity!

HI can be an entrance into a lucid dream. Maybe when you have more experience, it will not be annoying, but actually be useful to you.

      Good luck!
