      I need help!

Last night, I think I had my first lucid dream. However, it was as if i was watching a 12 inch out-of-focus television from 20 feet away. I said to myself, "Skrew this, I want a vivid first LD!" and woke up. Any advice? Is this normal? Are they always going to always be like this? Thanks!- BeeT

      to Dreamviews!

That's fairly common in first LDs. The person getting it gets excited, which makes the dream less vivid. Congrats on the first LD though!

There are tricks to stop this. One way is to just stay calm. Don't be all like "OMG I'm having an LD OMG OMG OMG etc." Just keep your cool and do insane stuff. Another way is to rub your hands. It really helps the vividness.

Hope you have a better LD next time! If you have any questions, don't be afraid to PM me or someone else with a green name.

yes just as Suttsman said, don't get too excited and it will definately get better. I've never tried the hand rubbing think though. Think about what you are going to do in a LD before you get into one also. Good job getting a LD and good luck.

I hope it works for you as well.
The more lucid dreams you have the more chances you'll have to learn to prolong them or make them more vivid.

The hand rubbing technique worked for me.

Also, try taking a few moments to just stand there, after you get lucid, and really look at the dream scenery. This can help to clear it up and make it more real. Look at your hands, at the ground, at the sky, at the dream characters around you, at anything and really appreciate the dream world that surrounds you.

No, it's not uncomon for the first couple of lucid dreams for it to be fuzzy and strange looking, it's your mind trying to compensate for something that it's not used to.

Putting on a pair of glasses should help the fuzzyness.
