How can i not realise its a dream?!!!

Basically I had 5 dreams of which i could recollect last night but 3 fully remembered, the first i remember when i woke up at about 6am I tried to just remember it as i dont have a dream journal atm. After falling back to sleep i remember my second dream, It was rather brief it lasted about a minute but I was walking through a casino gambling, there was money falling out of the machines, and i decided to gamble on the cheap ones which wouldnt work...so quite a few hints that i was dreaming, Money falling out of machines, the machines not working...being in a casino in the first place.

Then when i woke i up was like how did i not realise it was a dream and try a RC, I have a few in place atm, Checking my hands, checking for my wrist bands and a piece of paper in my pocket.

This is where it gets really rediculous, I then had a longer dream must have lasted about 10-15 minutes. To begin with I dreamt that I was about to leave on holiday with my family, we were going to turkey, next minute i know were in turkey walking around the weather is perfect but the surrounding buildings are more like Miami or something than turkey. We decide to take a picnic on a cliff edge overlooking a beach. Thats when we start to see pigs with wings, big pigs twice the size of normal with huge winds all flying around and swooping up to us, flying around like a flock of seagulls. I was..rather than realizing how completly insane it was, I was amazed, and decided hey why dont i take some photos to show my friends, So i get my camera phone out whilst my family were taking photos on the camera I started taking a few shots of these flying pigs. I was thinking to myself so pigs really can fly i can't wait to show my friends its true. I wonder why i never seen them before.
So then i decide to check my photos on the phone when i check there are none rather they are replaced by photos of webpages or blurred dark blue images. So i concluded i ran out of space on my phone. Then i ask my parents to see there camera and checked the pictures and there they were the flying pigs.

( That was a real dream and the images in my head were very vivid, I can remeber most of it pretty well now)

Next minute I realise we are back at my house and im talking to a friend who i havent spoken to in ages about the holiday ( I assume this is when the dream changes or becomes something totaly different) The discussion turns to how i never speak to him often enough..But i dont recall much of if from there.

Then I dream im at a swimming competition, this was a rather short dream, mostly what i can remember was someone said i bet you cant do two lengths under the water, So I go into a 3rd person view of myself swimming under the water whilst breathing and do the two lengths.

HOW CAN I NOT REALISE IM DREAMING...Flying pigs, breathing underwater with 3rd person, visiting a country instantly..I mean why doesnt my mind click and say maybe i should do a reality check.

Well all that in one night...I was hoping to have atleast 1 Lucid dream.

      hello jason
the dreams that you described happens to me almost every night, just last night i dreamt maybe 10 dreams that each one of them haden"t any connection to reality like i was able to teleport from country to country.
in the dream i always think it's real never questioning whetere it could be a dream and thats becouse i never question reality when i'm awake.
you need to practice reality checking during the day so your mind would start question the reality of dreams.
a few months ago i started doing reality checking for about 10-15 times a day and two weeks later i had my first lucid dream after i did a reality check, i looked at my hands, saw that they were weird looking and realised it was a dream.

so if you want to notice during dreaming that what is going on is not possible, train yourself to check your current state of mind.

by the way, welcome to dream views

Welcome to DV and to the land of people who are constantly asking that question, myself included.

The part of our brain which supports logic and reason kind of shuts down while we sleep. The subconscious/unconscious mind is essentially allowed to roam free and follow whichever path it chooses. The trick with reality checking is not to train yourself to check your watch all the time or something like that, but to get yourself into a frame of mind where you're asking yourself what's going on and if it makes sense.

The RCs you have are fine, but also take a few moments several times a day to ask yourself questions such as "Where am I?" or "What am I doing?" or "How did I get here?" If the answers don't make sense, then it's likely that you're dreaming. By asking those kinds of questions, you taking a look at the world around you rather than relying on the possibility of you remembering to hold your nose and try to breathe (my favorite RC).
