      Hi!

      Hi,
I've just recently started 'suffering' from Hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, I get visions and smells before and after going to sleep. I say 'suffering' but I really quite enjoy them and I'm hoping they're not going to stop!

I've had a few natural lucid dreams in my time, I used to be into trying to induce them but at the time I couldn't find much information on it, all I could find was sunglasses with LED's in them for £400 a pair! Now seems like a good time to give it another go though! I look forward to reading and contributing to the board.

      Hey, welcome welcome!

I hope ya share some experiences with us! Yeah, there wasn't really much on lucid dreaming a few years ago.. at least I don't remember finding much. I wonder why it's a rising interest?

      Hi there PresumingEd

I have just joined this forum too, and am very impressed with the posts and wealth of information contained within the web site. I'm sure it will help us both to achieve our aims.

I don't know if it's the same for you but when I try to talk to friends about lucid dreaming the `yeah..whatever` look tends to adorn their faces and the conversation rarely goes any further. I still think, however, that lucid dreaming can help us all, and once our friends and the closed-minded out there realise that we're not crackpots so many more people will be enjoying thebenefits of it.

If you were able to lucid dream before, I'm sure that by trying some of the induction techniques it won't be long before you are regularly acheiving lucidity (and without spending 400 notes on equipment!). It's like anything..it just requires some practise. I used to have lucid dreams regularly but due to being pre-occupied with other things I have only recently started to practise again.

I wish you good luck and hopefully we will cross paths in the future.

It's so sad how people think that lucid dreaming is a cult or part of the new age movement. I also hope in the future that people will become more aware and open to lucid dreaming.

      BTW, welcome to dreamviews flyatknight!

I think that one of the reason's that lucid dreaming has become of such interest lately is that people need to be able to feel some kind of control over there lives. In this day and age where everyone is so busy and out of touch with themselves they need somewhere where they can turn and take that time to get to know themselves again. For many people, unfortunately, the only time that they have to do this is when they are sleeping
I believe that people who don't take the time are the sceptics because they have never experienced the utter thrills of being in control of what can happen to you even if it is only in just a dream.
(Off topic) that phrase... just a dream....has a whole new meaning when you LD don't it peoples.
Anyways, I think that unfortunately as our lives get busier and more chaotic however we lose the ability to connect with our inner self. Have you ever noticed how a lot of the time people say that they were able to LD when they were a child but that they can't now. They have lost touch of a God given ability to connect with themselves and with Him.
Moral of the story: Take the time to smell the roses and you will be rewarded.
The only limits of our minds are the limits we set for ourselves.
