      Another Newbie

      Hi Everyone,
I found this site one night by accident - its great! I have been trying to get to Lucid Dreaming for a few months now, but my dreams seem so real - I have tried a few different reality checks, looking at my hands (yep fine) like the closing your nostrils thing (nope can't breath like that) and last night even pinching and hitting myself - to which my husband (in the dream) said "what are you DOING?" and it hurt, so even though I was saying this is a dream, this is a dream - I and my dream husband convinced myself that it wasn't and I went on dreaming non lucid.....
My dreams seem so real - until I wake up of course. Anyway - I hope to further the progress soon. I am also interested in Astral Projection and remote veiwing, and will happily take all advice offered
      Cheers, K.

      Hello and to Dreamviews!

Are you wanting the reality checks to fail (and gain lucidity)? Or are you expecting them to fail? Believe that it is a dream, and you can do whatever you want, including ignoring your huband of course, and you could stand a better chance. Good practice though, better than I could ever be.

Hello Kunama and welcome to dreamviews!

try doing other reality checks if those you mentioned not working for you like looking at your hands, look for differences or any oddities in the environment, there's a tutorial that shows many reality checks if you want to check it out. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=4470

by the way, i had a dream a few months ago in which i knew i'm in a dream but the image was so real that it drove my exitment to the roofs and i instantly woke up, and from this experience i can say that it motivated me to induce lucid dreams.

keep practicing and you"ll make it. if you have any other question you"re welcome to post them here.

Memory reality checks are how I get lucid more than any other.

Just think back and retrace your actions for the last few hours and analyze that, if you have gaps in memory then you are dreaming.

Try making something irl-impossible instead if you manage, this is what I've been doing lately, like trying to create floods for example

      Nose breathing

If you can't breath through a pinched nose, try serriously restricting your breathing. Pinch your nose intill you can only breath out or in a little bit. This will keep your lungs from thinking (rightly) that you can't breath since you have your nose pinched. If you can either breath normally or not breath at all -there is no way to make yourself barrily be able to breath- your dreaming. Good luck.

P.S. If you can breath through your eyes, it can be a big help. There is a way to stop breathing durring your dreams, but there is no way to breath through your eye. So: breath through you eye for a reallity check.

Ahh, you wont be saying that once you read the tutorials! (Other than living in hope, we all do that, hopefully)

yeah that's happened to me before, where a DC convinced me I wasn't lucid after I did a RC which failed. Just keep doing different RCs and try not to listen to them if you're almost sure that you're dreaming.
