      Hi

      Hi all,

New to the site, so thought I had better say hi.

My name is Josh, and I am from Australia. I had another example of being aware I was dreaming last night, so it encouraged me to do a little reading.

Since I was quite young I have, on and off, had experiences of being dream aware. When I was young I had a lot of nightmares. At some point I started to realise during nightmares that it was only a dream. I then became able to either remove myself from the situation in the dream (ie take myself home or somewhere I considered safe), or to just wake up. Over the years the nightmares reduced down and so has the instances of being dream aware.

Last night was again started through a "nightmare". These don't hold fears anymore as basically as soon as I start having one I become semi-aware, and I am able to adjust what is happening. Generally at some stage during it I will become fully aware. Generally I wake up not long after nowdays, so have never really explored the experience.

Anyway, that is enough about me. I hope I can learn a little about "LD" and what can be done.

      Cheers,
      Josh

ps, just reading the abbreviations post, and following the link, I realised I have also experienced what is referred to as HH. To say it was unpleasant is somewhat understating things.

Welcome to DV! I was a "natural" too, but now that I know more about LDing I have them much more often and I have a lot more fun, too! Hopefully you will find this to be true for yourself as well.

Thank you Seeker. I hope that is the case as well. When I was younger and it occured more frequently I was quite uneasy with the being able to change my dreams. I am not sure why, but it just didn't seem right. I hope to be able to develop it more now.

Hello and welcome to Dream Views.

Using nightmares to get lucid works great... until the nightmares disappear. All you have to do is find a new method to help you attain lucidity.

Check out The Lucid Dreaming Quick Start Guide HERE. This might help you. If not check out the other methods listed in the Tutorials section. Find one that you like and start practicing a new way to get lucid.

I mainly used waking in Sleep Paralysis to become lucid before. The more I focussed on my dreams the less I woke up in SP until one day I realized I didn't wake in that state anymore. I had to learn a new way to get lucid. I started using the HIT Technique in the Tutorials section and it worked wonderfully for me.

to DV Nightmares are fun to get lucid during because then you can turn the dream on whatever scared you.
