Hey Folles.

So you've been doing research? Well, I'd like to give you some basics anyway, starting with the dream journal.
Do you have one? Because if you don't, I think you should get one or just simply make one which is the easiest way. This increases what's called dream recall, it allows you to remember more of your dreams whether they are lucid or not. Some people don't keep a dream journal, but despite that fact, it's a very good way to help lucidity and dreaming, and it's really easy to do as well. Just start a normal journal in your writing pad or note pad or whatever you use for writing or typing, and begin writing or typing your dreams every single morning. We have a dream journal section on this forum if you're interested. Take a look - Click
There's also a term called reality checking which is used for when you're checking your reality. A good reality check and a reasonable description for why it works is known to me as "The hand reality check", this is done by looking at your hands and checking if they're real. When you focus on your hands, it's obvious that you're going to see something impossible on your hand itself or a manipulation in the atmosphere. For example, when I looked at my hands in a dream once, I was instantly blinded by plain colour, like a television had just been switched off. Or another time was when I looked at my hands and my vision went funny like a broken camera lens or something. This is because the brain cannot generate hands properly in dreams, so it forces something wrong in your hands, hence it's an easy reality check and most likely to come into use. A good way to train for reality checks are to do them daily when you do certain events, like walking through out the room, or using the toilet. But the most popular one is when you detect a dream sign. Now, a dream sign is when you see something that is mostly what exists in your dreams, not that it can't be in real life. But for example, I sometimes dream I'm in school or college, this is when I, or when I should do a reality check. Obviously I can't do reality checks in reality when I'm at school, because I've left school, but I can always imagine or do some other method or whatever. But when I'm at college, I can check then. Other than that, you can work on them throughout the day at random times, the aim here is to get your mind used to questioning your reality so hopefully you will know you're in a dream by certain. Lastly, just read stuff on this forum, you'll be experienced quicker and inspired quicker if you read on people's experiences. This will make your mind recognize information so you will subconsciously remember it for when you next dream, hopefully enough.
