      False awakening or blindness?

Hi, I'm quite new to the Lucid Dreaming stuff, but I've had a strange experience. I had one of those false awakenings (I think) 3 times in one night. Each time, all I can see is black. I can talk to myself in my mind and I seem to have conscious awareness. But how exactly do I get any sort of visual image, before I lose my awareness. I use the NovaDreamer and checked with the reality button, I didn't get any flashy lights. Hence why I think its a false awakening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

wow your the first person ive seen who has a novadreamer

      anyway welcome to the forums!
i think your experiencing a lack of control, maybe you turn lucid and then dont know what to do next so your mind leaves a big blank on the landscape.
i dont know you didnt explain it very well, would you mind telling us more please?

The only way I can describe it is like this. Imagine having your eyes shut and lying in bed. All you can see is black because its at night. I can still feel things such as the texture of the bed, the wallpaper, etc. I realise I'm probably dreaming, but I don't know for sure. This is where the reality test button comes in on the Nova Dreamer. I press the button on the front of the mask about 6 or 7 times. But... I don't see any red lights. As in, none at all. All I see is the blackness. It does seem as though I'm really awake, but if I don't see the red lights, (which you can't really miss) then, I'm dreaming. Maybe its like end of part one of my dream and the scene is blank for the moment? I tend to drift off because I can only remember about 30 seconds or so of this happening. Hope this sheds a bit more light on things.

well then once youve pressed the button and nothing happens, try to do something impossible like pull a gun out of yout pocket and stuff.
then try to close your eyes and *expect* to find yourself in somewhere else. thus your LD begins

failing that...maybe try MILD in addition to novadreamer?
dont know what the outcome would be...

im not sure exactly whats going on but i would suggest getting up and walking around or doing something. are you saying its black only because its night or you cant see anything? maybe its the nova dreamer thing. take it off and go read a book title or something as a reality check. hope this was a little help. if not just ask some more questions.

      good luck!

      ^^^

I wa sabout to suggest just what the above two posters suggested:

      1. Take off the novadreamer.
      2. Open your eyees.

It could be as simple as that.
