      So how does this work........

Well im prety new to all of this I find it all very exciting to learn about. Before I found this site I didn't know much of ne thing when it came LDs or ne thing for that matter lol! Although I had previous to this site experienced a few LDs they never lasted longer then what felt like seconds. Now I have been having LDs a lot more I think it is so kool! But I am still stuck with not being able to make them last very long. I just dont know how to control my dreams. Like the last couple LDs ive had they ended b/c in my dream someting startled me totally unexpected things. Its weird to cuz I can feel myself waking up like I can feel my body in my bed start to tingle its so weird but kinda kool.

Ne way I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how I could gain more control and not be startled so I dont wake up? Also how I could have longer LDs? Thanks!

The key is to remain calm. If you get too excited, you'll wake up.

Also, that tingling you're describing is sleep paralysis. Nothing too bad.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Check out the "Dream control" section.

I like to yell out "Clarity now" or stability, when you think about something in a dream, or have preconceived notions about things, they influence the course of the dream.

This is untrue. If you believe yourself to be awaken by being too excited you will. If you believe that you cannot be awaken by it you will not. Just believe that you will not wake up from the LD, if you get excited in a normal dream do you wake up? No, that does not make sense. Next time you have an LD, tell yourself that being overexcited can not happen.

You also do not need to "stabilize" a dream. Why would a dream just fade away for no reason? Does that make any sense at all? Just believe that you do not need these silly setbacks and you will get much further in lucid dreaming.

I always wondered about this too. The one LD I've had I got crazy excited and didn't wake up. Another point: What would be the purpose of LDs if you couldn't enjoy them? Just be solemn and then scream with excitement when you wake up? (Well, besides the fact that you can practice stuff...)

This is something I've been thinking about just recently. BillyBob had some long long post whose purpose was to end all "In lucid dreams, can you do...?" He makes reference to LD stabilization. I would hate to have to stifle my excitement to stay lucid, but I wouldn't mind yelling, spinning, or putting my hand in cold water...etc. That's not really a problem in my eyes. But anyway Ashley, you seem to have a knack for this...keep exploring what you can do. Remember that LDing can be used for more than fun.
