      Bewildered

Since this is my first post, I would like to give a brief account of how I came to post on this site, and then explain my situation.

I have had only one LD, which was very short but very mind opening. This occurred less than 11 months ago. I had heard nothing of lucid dreaming, and this occurrence was very random. In the waking life I am a 22 year old college student from Texas Tech. My LD occurred while I was back home visiting my parents. The dream involved a high school trip to a mayan temple. At one point I found the experience to be unreal and realized I was dreaming. I had an outer-body experience in which I saw myself sleeping. I immediately began to remind myself to write my entire dream down once I woke up (this was the dream before my lucid dream).

I did some research and found out what lucid dreaming was, but never researched it enough to learn there was a process to waking up. So anyways, two weeks ago my friend brings me this book called "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming," and my dreams have exploded since.

This is where I become bewildered. I have been trying several techiques to become lucid, and all have resulted in amazing results, but I have not become lucid. These include realitiy checks, dreamsign recall, subliminal music, and EILD audio. I will present my dreams as a list of scenarios. I can list them chronologically but I believe that has no significance. These dreams started occurring a week and half ago. I started my dream journal three weeks ago. Disregarding the past three nights, in which the first two of the three I used audio, I have been able to recall four dreams per night for around a week.

      I have several different scenarios.

      1. I am an observer, rather than a participating character in my dreams.

      2. I see myself from a distance doing an act from past dreams (at least several months ago)

      3. Deja Vu within a dream

      4. Active waking life influence on my dreams (I am pretty sure tonight I will have a dream that I am a secret agent, I may be the character, or I may just observe).

I am having trouble distinguishing between a false awakening or daydreaming. I will be in a dream like state, but my switch from dream to awake is so fast that I have been convincing myself I was never asleep. I find myself waking up in the middle of the night at least 3 times (this started occurring once I started using the audio).

Please feel free to ask me about any of my scenarios. I will be happy to post any of my dream journals.

Thanks for reading and keep on dreaming,

      -Chris

Hey, welcome. You've come to the right place.

Are you asking for interpretation of your dream scenarios? Or are you just putting them forward?

I notice the first two dream scenarios you presented have you at a distance either from the world and people, or from yourself.

FAs can be hard to catch when you don't think you've just "woken up." Try doing a RC when you catch yourself day dreaming while awake, as well, to catch these.
