      Im new!

      Hii im new here!
I just stumbled upon this message board randomly and im very intrigued by this whole idea. I LOVE dreaming. Its probably one of my favorite activities (if you can even call it that). I've never heard of lucid dreaming however and im really curious about the whole thing. Im pretty sure i've never had a lucid dream but I cant be sure without know exactly what it is. I was wondering if it is at all possible to be having lucid dreams and not really knowing it or does it just hit you when it does happen?

btw i like the smilies here

Hey welcome! Awesome a true newb!

Lol lucid dreaming can occur randomly, some people have had lucid dreams their entire life without knowing they were LDing!

Read the main site and the tutorials for information about how to have them.

Squall is right, some are naturals. But for anyone who's not and become lucid, you'll definitly know and you might even feel this rush of excitement. Its really cool. like squall said though, check out the tutorials, they are really good.

Well I read just about every tutorial on the site and im convinced I will have a lucid dream tonight. failure is not an option. hahah well, I dont know if it will happen tonight but I won't give up until it does happen. Also I just thought i'd share a really weird and sorta gross dream I had last night where me and my dad were watching tv and there was a police chase on where the people involved were throwing severed heads out of the back of the van!!! it was so weird! The grossest part was when the police cars would run over the heads it made the nastiest sound! Also the facial expressions my dad made every time the cops ran over a head were priceless. Well thats all for now I guess

hey, i was driving a car while a T-rex was chasing me so....

anyway your just going to have to start getting in the habit of doing reality checks when strange thingsh happen

      Nightowl:
Lol. Car and T-rex . May be you just watched JP or something

      Birdman:
If you want to really know if you are in a LD, what I usually did was think of something I really wanted to do and I simply is there. It's not that hard. Worked well with me. Drove my friend's car, swim across the sky(I was young then.. very young), turning nightmares into superhero dream , etc . As long as you realize you are in a dream, all you got to do is think about something and it will happen.
Another way is to find a book or a writing or something like that. If what it says doesn't make sense, you are dreaming.. tho some people said they can read in dreams, I don't think I ever did.

Btw, you can dream in different languages. I did that before. I read a book before saying something like whatever language you use to talk or think before you go to sleep, you have high chances that you are going to dream in that language.

hello! your dreams rock birdman!!! hehe! well done - you will go far if you can remember them vividly like that! just dont get frustrated if you get gullible in your dreams and always think they r real! it takes practice to be able to question reality in your sleep you'll get there!

      hi there,welcome birdman!
i think one of the biggest mistakes newbies like us think is that we expect lucid dreaming to happen overnight. not gonna happen!
ive been here a month or so and just had my first lucid dream yesterday.
lucid dreaming is a skill you have to practice, just like learning to play a new instrument or studying a language. it usually takes a month to get your first,a few have gotton it within 2/3 weeks but that is a rarity.
dont be discouraged though! dont dismiss lucid dreaming because it seems too much like hard work, just keep at a steady pace and they will come eventually.
also, dont mistake dreams in which you are dreaming of being lucid as lucid dreams. i made this mistake when i started and thought that a dream i had where i dreamed about lucid dreaming, was a LD. confusing huh?
but when i had a real LD,wow its amazing. the weeks of trying really pay off, trust me.
also some other advice is dont try TOO hard or youll end up getting frustrated.
well thats all the advice i can give you,if you stick at it and dont bail out like most other newbies youll do great!
oh and try to get and adoption in the adoption forums, itll give you somewone to talk to about your experiences, questions etc

Well no LDs last night which is sort of what I expected but I did have 4 very vivid dreams that I remember which is the most I could remember from one night in a while so thats good. I just started a dream journal so that might have something to do with remember them all. Also I just got a cheapo watch from walmart that beeps every hour which should help remind to to do my RC's. Its kind weird but I actually feel like im getting closer to a LD every time I dream. Its gonna be sweet! haha
