      Introduction and experiences

Hello, I am new to the forum.
I have a few questions but try to keep in mind that I am not new to Lucid dreaming.

      Some background:

I began Lucid dreaming spontaneously at age seventeen without knowing what it was or ever having been told of it's existence.

Within a very short period of time I completely stopped having standard dreams.
For many years I didn't say anything about it to anyone but kept an eye and an ear open for anything that might be an explanation for this strange phenomenon which at this point I now experienced nightly.

Eventually I read something (I don't recall what) and I became aware that I was not the only one. Later I met others who had shared similar experiences, but few did it nightly.

also there were other inconsistencies, such as sensations which always occurred in my Lucid dreams, which no others seemed to report, such as :
a sensation of intense electric current sensations in the body mouth and tongue, and the experience of the lucid dream being of a somehow higher resolution than waking life.

I still have not totally resolved these differences to the degree that I am satisfied that I am experiencing the same thing, but for the most part reports lead me to believe that if it is not the same it is close.

not long ago I discovered I could no longer Lucid dream for some reason.
recently after my move to Holland I managed again, however with the distinct feeling that I was somehow *trespassing on private land*

I would like to keep Lucid dreaming and take it a little further as I was just beginning to perform some promising experiments in my own before my ability ceased before.

I hope that is an adequate introduction.

      thanks

      ~Expat

      Welcome to Dream Views!

I started to LD as a child and for years I thought everyone knew when they were dreaming. It wasn't until I saw something on TV about it that I realized that it was something "special."

To address your questions, there are some "natural lucid dreamers" (those who do it spontaneously) who don't have "normal" dreams, but only lucid ones. My best friend is one of these people. Although I'm "natural" I've had to work to have a majority of my dreams be lucid.

Most experienced lucid dreamers find that many lucid dreams seem to be hyper real -- seem more "real" than waking life. As if every sense is turned to a higher level of functioning than in waking life. I have had LDs in which I simply sat and cried, awed by the beauty of the dream around me.

I am not aware of other LDers talking about the electric sensations in the mouth and tongue. I have had some unusual feelings while lucid, however I think you are refering to something other than the ordinary. Perhaps someone with some experience with deep meditation or OBEs might know what you are talking about?? If no one is able to answer that portion of your concern you may want to poke around the "Beyond Dreaming" section and see if anyone there knows what you are talking about.

Thank you for your reply, I will explore the Beyond dreaming section. I noticed you use the word "concern", to clarify it isn't really a concern so much as a nagging question and need to know.

      thanks again
