Exclamation WILD Attempts... Need help I do believe.

      Hey there everyone!

I just restarted Lucid Dreaming so I do know some Info on it all ready, but last night I attempted to do WILD. I think I've gotten to the point were my body enters a slight Sleep Parallyzis and becomes Numb. I don't know if I seen any Hypnogogic Imagery or not (I do beleive I seen Dream Snippets) because I have no clue on what exactly it is to see, unless it's a variety of wavy colors, then I seen it. Anyways, I thought my seconde WILD attempt was going pretty well until the fan (which had a steady calm noise) went out and all I could hear was my brother and friend talking very loudly .... That pissed the hell out of me. Anyways I would like to know if all was going well or any pointers.

Oh and once I tried to awaken from the loud talking I felt as if I my mind prevented me from moving while my body sort of would.

Well I have a few questions: Did you attempt the WILD w/ a WBTB? Wilds are a lot easier when attempted w/ some sleep. And another thing, are you sure it was your brother and his friend talking/were they still talking when you woke up? Alot of times, SP brings about a lot of auditory hallucinations that can range from being a bunch of loud inaudible noises to full-fledged conversations! So keep that in mind when wilding next time.

And it definitely sounds like you got pretty close to wilding. That variety of colors is the precursor to more complex HI which are snippets of dreams. I made a little tutorial guide that some have found useful when trying to wild so here it is:

      1. Get at least 5 to 6 hours of sleep (WBTB). (optional)

      2. Devote at least 2 hours (or more) to WILDing.(optional)

      3. Remember your goal (where you want to go, what you want to do, etc).

      4. Dismiss any other thoughts and focus only on taking slow, deep breaths.

      5. Remain COMPLETELY still, no matter what.

      6. Try to steer clear of straying/abstract thoughts when entering SP (random/abstract thoughts means that the logical part of your brain is falling asleep, dont let it!). (they can also cause you to enter a non-Lucid Dream which would make all this work was for nothing!)

      7. Dont fight or resist SP in any way / stay relaxed and calm when it begins to happen.

      8. Continue to focus only on your (slow, deep) breathing as vibrations, Hypnagogic Imagery, and auditory hallucinations become more intense from SP.

(you can focus on and/or visualize your goal once you think you've got the breathing part down packed).

      9. Continue step 8 until you feel that sudden rush of spinning and/or falling through your bed or ceiling (in my case); this should mean that SP is complete, and hence you are ready to dream.

      10. If you are not already in a dream scene, then spin around or rub your hands together (or both) in order to conjure up one. Doing this can also stabilize a fading/blurry dream scene.

There you have it, those are pretty much all the steps I take when Im attempting a WILD. And if it doesnt work the first time, remember that it takes time so dont give up! I know it seems like a lot, but once you've been through it many times, you will become better and better at it.

Nope I didin't WBTB but I was fairly sleepy (It was night-time). And Yeh, I'm pretty sure that they were talking because they went to bed after me, my brother told me they were talking and I would recongnize the laugh of my friend anyday... It's really annoying. Anyways, I was using Seeker's Guide (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=9806) but tonight I will try your guide. Well, keep updated, I will post in the morning on the results!

      A Question!

To help with the keeping the logical part of the brain awake, is it possible to count your breaths?

Sure it is, as a matter of fact, thats a good idea as long as the counting doesnt interfere with your slow breathing. You should try counting in between breaths like so:
(Inhale)... (Exhale) "1", (Inhale)... (Exhale) "2", (Inhale)... (Exhale) "3", etc.

Damnit, I couldin't do the WILD last night, My dog went through some REM and I couldin't help but wake him up, even though it's natural. Also, Yet again my brother and my friend came down right after, all hyped up and loud saying that they want to become bounty hunters (We were watching Dog the Bounty Hunter before we went to bed).

Yeh I'm also trying techniques combined with eachother such as my current that I'm going to try out tonight. Water Technique (Thanks Swikity!) - Breathing Technique - WolfeDreamer's WILD Guide.

Well hopefully this will work and I will become Lucid. Thanks to all the posts/replies so far! Like I said in my last post, I will mention the results in the morning!

*Few hours later Edit* Just great... I don't know whether I will be able to sleep tonight :S.
My neck is having spasms whenever I turn it to the right, I think I may have hurt it preparing for back-flips on a trampoline. Well I'll see what happens.

Haha, we watched Dog the Bounty Hunter too last night! Gotta love the Dog

But yeah, definitely go for it. And if something wakes you or you wake yourself, try not to move or pay it any attention; just remain still, remember what you're trying to accomplish and report back and let us know how it went.

Hey Delta, what position do you usually sleep in?
B/c that could be affecting your neck in some way.

I sleep in 3 posistions. They transitsion usually every night.
I sleep on my Stomache, Back and on my right side.
It's funny though because my Mom was saying it was because I slept on the couch and got
stiff neck. The thing is though is when I woke up it was nowhere in sight so obviously it was from the trampoline (I was jumping then landing on my upper back, preparing for the flip). I just agree'd with my Mom so that she wouldin't nag about I shouldin't do anymore back-flips.

Well my neck is much better so I might do the WILD . Though for the next 3 days I will
not have access to the internet (unless we stop into a hotel/motel with wireless internet) because I'm returning home from a trip. So during those three days I will try some WILD'ing / FILD'ing . Catch you guys later.
