New To This Site, New To The Term Lucid Dreaming, Not Really New To the Concept...

Here's a little background knowledge on my acclomplishments and experiences with Lucid Dreaming as well as a bit of background history.

First off I am a Jr. in highschool, I first heard the term Lucid Dreaming about a year and a half ago in a Star Trek episode but didn't research it. I am also a firm Christian and my morals are set there, but int he Dream World I have no inhibitions or concepts of morality (unless I want to be some heroic noblemen or something.).

I have gone into quite a few lucid dreams since childhood. Ever since I had my first vivid one (the best when I was younger and went into DBZ,) I have tried my own expiriments and methods to induce the dreams. I've always had pretty good dream recognition and dream recall. At times I've been able to remember the entirety of fantasy epics that had a beginning middle and end. I've remembered in great detail many dreams.

Latley I've had trouble retaining the dreams. I'd become aware and loose it shortly thereafter. One technique I have is to take away alot of the setting. For example, I find it hard to concentrate on people or DCs as well as a setting or background. I've had it where the dream fades so instead of the people fading I focus on the DCs and let the background fade into a blank white void. I did this once and was so single minded and had so little to think about that I was able to do some 'stuff' with two chicks at once. Usually such a stimulating event would wake me up.

I don't want to give you the wrong idea about my self awareness. It is fairly rare (LDs) and happens only occasionally and with little consistencey. Actually lately I've been having fewer of thwm or having less control when I do have them (LDs).

Sometimes I can't remember my techniques in dream or they don't work so when I saw the phrase lucid dreaming whilst surfing and read up on it I became interested and finally found myself here.

Most of my DCs have been fairly flat save for a toddler child who kept appearing in front of me within a hilly village and looked at me with a strange fascination and almost burrowed into my soul. (It was lucid.)

List Of Things I've Done (BTW many of these were when I was younger.)
~Turned the world into a cartoon
      ~Flown (I know, cliche)
      ~Gone Super-Saiyan
~Gone to School or School Activites With the Intent of Screwing Things Up (or People... Don't Judge Me.)
      ~Had Sex
      ~Summoned People
~Mentally Broken Vending Machines to Make Them Drop Crap for Free This was in a semi-lucid dream. My conciousness was coming in and out but I was aware enough to exert some control.)
~Entered Video Games (Usually not a totally concious effort as I've become lucid as I entered or after)
~And other things that I can't recall right now

Hey Spockman, I realize that I'm newer than you are to the board, but I'm about as old as you are in terms of the concept. I too am a firm Christian in the waking world, but in my dreams, there aren't any limits. The difference though is that I wish to become a practiced LDer so that I can enter realms of fiction that I've made, usually as a protagonist... I just want to experience that... feeling of empowerment that I don't have in the waking world.

What was your innitial reason for LDing?

Judging from his post he just fell into it like I did; just being able to do it every now and then off the bat.
Ever since I started posting here though and had the intention of remembering my dreams I've remembered about 1-3 per night
Hopefully you guys might have similar results.

Btw dont worry about your dream-destructiveness; my guess is you just want to do those things because you don't (assuming) in real life; most people wonder about "life on the other side of the fence" so to say.

I fell into the topic a bit differently. I had alot of sleep paralyis when i was a bit younger and just recently after researching sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinationsi stumbled into this topic, which i have taken an interest into now.

Yeah, firestorm, Balestar's right. I first concioussly attempted to initiate them at 8-9 and back then I just thought it was cool. Now it's deeper. Now I legitimentley want to get in touch with my sub-conciouss and understand how to think with the back of my mind. I believe we all have equal control to comprehend with the back of our minds as we do with the front of our minds, but we hardly practice with the back. Anyway, I want to better understand myself and my mind.

Thanks for posting all you guys..

Between the Buried and Me, my mom used to have consistent and heavy sleep paralysis as well as still has intense hypnogogic phenomenon. (Even dangerously.) Thanks for bringing to my attention that lucid sleeping can help someone get in touch with and overcome that. I'll talk to her about it... Thanks.
