I just but bullet points like:

Haha, pros. I'm not a pro. I spilled hot chocolate on my laptop last night.

Anyway, I don't really have time to make bullets... When I wake up, I just sort of frantically write down whatever I remember, often not even in sequential order, keeping my eyes closed. My mind's actually really good at remembering the order of events after I've committed to remembering them by writing down the most important facts.

That said, when you're recording, be sure not only to write down what happened, but emphasize what happened that wouldn't happen in real life. Write about your senses other than sight, etc. It's the small details, I've heard, that can provide easy dream signs.

I still can't remember dreams reliably, so perhaps I'm not the most reputable source on this xD

For journaling, I try to be as specific as I can, even if it doesn't make any sense. I also give each dream some sort of title, although that's mostly just to make me give a sort of common thread with which to associate it.

Probably the hardest part in journaling is to write down all the stuff you remember, without adding things that didn't happen just to satisfy the natural urge to have it make sense and have continuity. Sometimes you have to accept that there won't be continuity and that sometimes a character is both your friend and a guy you met on the train, or that sometimes you're both at home but also at the department store. I find my mind is very tempted to gap-fill in order to have it all make sense. Some dream recall will only be one statement while others can take up several pages.

So if you have some recall of a part of a dream that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of what you recall, still get it down, even general feelings/emotions, etc.

I am crap so far when I wake up I only really start realising it when I am up properly (in other words, I already opened my eyes, stretched etc.), this also stopped me from DEILDing last night, however I will NOT give up hope!!!

I will try your tips too, Tamias.Squirrel and gthom!

I think it's better to write them out as a story, include as much detail as you can. You can check out my dream journal if you'd like to see how that's done. Link is in my signature.

If I remember a lot I'll write it very detailed, because a lot of that detail will be forgotten later. If my dream recall is shit like it has been recently, I'll just write short sentences about the most important things that I can remember.

An example from this morning: "Lesbian twins, different movies, learning the art of lovemaking". Reading this is enough to make me remember the key parts of the dream.

Oh snap! Another Elfen Lied fan!

Yeah, It's weird how we can spontaniously remeber things like that. Althought that never really happens to me with dreams...

(btw, I'm probably the biggest elfen lied fan on here...if you need a sig or avatar, just ask me and I'll hook you up!)
