      another dreamer on board.....

hey everyone! yes, I am new here, but don't worry, I'll try to behave

anyway, I am kind of new to the whole lucidity stuff. why kind of? well, I did have a couple of lucid dreams before, but I never thought about them much, for me there were just dreams (and great ones) that probably happen to people once in a while....well, obviously there is much more behind these dreams than I imagined. The first time I did some research on lucid dreams was some weeks ago after I had a very vivid lucid dream. I came accross this wonderful site and learned a lot!...the result is that I got even more interested in the subject, I then made some attempts to have lucid dreams...but with little results (but honestly I didn't try very hard either). But now I want to experiment more and enjoy it.

During weekdays I can't practice much, simply because I don't get too many hours of sleep, and I prefer not to force myself to be waking up during these nights (which for what I read, is the best way, if not the only one, to remember your dreams, or even lucid dreams if you had one). So during weekdays I am just content with sometimes remembering my last dream of the night. However, during weekends I am all for practicing from now on ...so what I am going to start doing, and please correct me if I am wrong, is, in order to recall my dreams, I will try to wake myself up (using an alarm clock) every hour and a half (especially later through my sleep)...then I will take quick notes of whatever I was dreaming (that's if I can get my lazy self out of bed )....I now know that it is very hard to remember a dream you had earlier in the night when you finally wake up in the morning...it happened to me many times that I wake up knowing that I had a dream but I just can't remember it...so I guess it is worth the effort to take those notes during the night. And well, then comes the use of dream signs and induction techniques I learned from this site, and that I will practice. I guess there is no point in talking too much about this now, better give all this a try and then come back to share my results later on.

As for my 'lucidity experiences' so far....well, as I mentioned before, I had a lucid dream like a month ago, that was what led me to research more about these lucid dreams. After learning 'the basics' from this site, I had one more lucid dream....it was fantastic! I was able to realize I was dreaming through a reality check, then, once I realized I was dreaming, I became very excited about it, and as a result I felt like the dream was fading away, so then I tried spinning to keep my dream going, and it worked (I think this is the part that impressed me the most)...while spinning I thought of a person, and I was surprised to see that person appearing once I was done spinning (well, even though I knew it was that person, it didn't really look exactly like that person does...it was more like a look-alike, but hey, better than nothing ....anyway, is there any reason for this? I mean for the person not looking exactly as in real life???)....then I became too excited again about having a lucid dream and this time I couldn't keep myself dreaming, so I woke up and wrote everything down. After that I didn't have any more lucid dreams (or at least not that I remember, because so far I didn't try waking up during the nights). I did take notes of two dreams I had during last weekend and yesterday, they weren't lucid, but at least I was able to wake up and write them down. Funny enough, both dreams included the same person from the lucid dream I drescribed above....what's the matter with that? am I obssessed with that person?? ....dream interpretation is something that I find very interesting too, but I am so clueless about it

well, I think this will do for now. I don't really have any questions besides the couple ones that are hidden in my long post above. Do let me know if you have any tips or hints for me that I seem to be missing or you will be useful to know....other than that I think it is better for me to practice a little and then "report" my results later on to see what is and what is not working. OK, sorry for the long post, I am wondering how many made it to this point of the post and are still awake ....anyway, I guess I am talking too much because I am excited to join this place, so all I can say for now is that it is great to be here!

      good night.....sleep well....and dream a lot

Hey G-man welcome to the forum, you'll love it here

As interested and motivated as you seemed in your post, you should enjoy all the information here.

in order to recall my dreams, I will try to wake myself up (using an alarm clock) every hour and a half (especially later through my sleep)...then I will take quick notes of whatever I was dreaming (that's if I can get my lazy self out of bed [/b]
That's a great way to get all the details you can out of dreams, simply writing down what you can remember is really good in itself, but waking up during the night even once is great. You could wake up every hour and a half if you want, but imo that will be very hard to do, waking up once maybe a couple of hourse before you normally wake to take down notes would be more than enough

then comes the use of dream signs and induction techniques I learned from this site[/b]
Well your on the right track there, keep that up as much as you can!!

I thought of a person, and I was surprised to see that person appearing once I was done spinning (well, even though I knew it was that person, it didn't really look exactly like that person does...it was more like a look-alike, but hey, better than nothing ....anyway, is there any reason for this? I mean for the person not looking exactly as in real life???)[/b]
It could be from a number of factors that the person did not match the looks of the 'real' person. Maybeyou had not enough concentration on making that person appear. It could also be that with the more experience you get in lucid dreamng, the better you can get at making objects/people appear.

am I obssessed with that person?? [/b]
hehe nah maybe they have just been on your mind, or the thought about them from the previous lucid dream has been stuck in your subconscience. For instance a really nice lookin girl works where i work, and she has somehow filtered into my dream in varios ways, but im not obsessed

Good luck in your dreaming ey
      n00bs i love you

hey Xisdence, thanx for the welcoming and for the advice. It does make sense to wake up only once during the night, otherwise it will be kind of hard. Anyway, last night I attempted to wake up twice, I actually did wake up both times, but unfortunately I couldn't remember any dreams at all. Now, since I'm kinda new to all this I might be wrong, but isn't everyone supposed to have dreams during the night? as far as I know it's just a matter of whether you remember them or not, or am I wrong? Anyway, what could be the reason why I didn't remember anything when I woke up (twice) last night? maybe I woke up 'too late' when my dream was already behind and "erased" from my mind?

Anyway, thanx for answering my first questions Xisdence....looking forward to learn more.....cya

That person could be a Dream Guide. Do you know this person well in real life?

      Welcome to the forums!
      hey, thanx a lot Squall!

I have only known this person for months, but I just know the person, I never actually met her in person, neither talked to her of course (though I wouldn't mind doing it someday, hehe)......I find it interesting that in most of the dreams I remembered lately (which aren't many), she was in them. Maybe she is, as you mentioned, a "Dream Guide"....though I now need to find out what that means ....I was checking some topics earlier and I saw some people discussing about DGs, I will try to look around again and learn more about it....unless you want to save me the trouble and give me a short explanation or maybe a link where this has been discussed already....thanx a lot!

I started my 'dream journal' today, so far I only have three dreams written down (dreams from recent days), one of them was the lucid one I explained in my first post. Starting this week I will start waking up to write down the dreams I remember...I shall report my results!

I also have another question (so many questions, you can tell I am new huh? )....following some ideas I learned from this great site, what I am going to do is to wake up 6 hours into my sleep, take around 10 minutes to write down anything I remember, and then go back to sleep to have some more dreams (hopefully lucid ones!) until I finally get up in the morning. My question is: after I sleep 6 hours and get up to write stuff down and go back to bed, what is the best to do? 1. wake up only once again 90-100 minutes later..... or 2. from then wake up every 20-30 minutes (kind of like taking quick naps) until finally waking up for good in the morning.....does it make a difference?, are there more chances of having lucid dreams (and remembering them) with either option??.....or am I just wasting my time thinking about it (and wasting your time having you read it )

well, thanx again for the welcoming!

Another Newbie here. Been reading about LDing on the site for a couple months now and am happy to say that I did have a short one about a month after I started . Finally decided to join the forums and say HI!

Quick summary of my first LD.
I was in my bathroom with my Dad and we were trying to repair a leaky pipe as I remember. I was just standing around absent-mindedly when I started rubbing my teeth with my thumb. I noticed they seemed loose. I went to grab one and it fell out. Out of curiosity, I grabbed another one and yanked it out. I looked at it. It was all rotted and dirty. "That's unusual" I thought to myself "considering how well I take care of my teeth." I looked at it again, then said out loud "This is a dream." Then I walked out of the bathroom and started flying around the house. Eventually I forgot that I was dreaming and went back into the ordinary (or unordinary, depending on how you look at it) dream, but it was quite an experience realizing it. Haven't had an LD since then, but looking forward to one!

Taron: Hey teeth falling out is a common dreamsign. Watch for it in the future!

      EDIT:
G-man: That sounds good! Tell us about the results!

crazycarly: try not to double-post. And you can start you own topics.

Yeah lately that's what I've been trying to watch out for and anything else out of the ordinary. Unfortunately nothing overly unusual has happened in my dreams recently (with the exception of a hamburger I ate that was stuffed with paper towel in place of the hamburger part, but it tasted good ).

Its also been tough for me to attempt any LD's lately because of my late bedtime hours and early work hours, but I'm tryin'.

      Thx all for the welcoming.
