So I don't really use any specific techniques, all I have been doing lately is just concentrating on my dreams, writing them down, and thinking about them all the time. Well one night a few weeks ago I believe I had a lucid dream. The dream had been going on for awhile and then it quickly changed to something I was very familiar with, I was driving with my dad through a childhood vacation spot it was then that I believe I told myself, "i'm dreaming", and I think it started then. What I remember is that I went right from that dream to immediately standing right in front of my bed. It was here that I knew I was lucid dreaming, and was in control. I remember being excited, and knew I was lucid dreaming. I remember that I was sort of getting nervous though, but I tried to put it aside and tried walking out of my room. The thing was everything was dark and very creepy, but there was like the column of light that only extended like a foot in diameter around me. It was then that I went back near my bed and tried to conjure something up, but nothing specific. I then sat on my bed and tried to make the room light, and I believe I did, but I decided I should leave the dream and wake up and go online and do some research.

So I laid back down in bed and try to get myself awake. It was then I believe that it felt like my legs were weightless and floating, and it was a really cool feeling, but I still tried to wake myself, and then I quickly put myself into sleep paralysis(very common for me), and shook myself awake, and quickly grabbed my computer. I was so excited. Was this a lucid dream or not?

Thing is I don't think I have done it since, but I have had similar things, a lot of them it seems related to my sleep paralysis. like recently I realized I was asleep and took control, but I couldn't see I was just paralyzed and trying to go lucid, but it was creepy and felt like there was someone was going to come into my room, and felt like someone was right next to my ear. So what is going on here, this isn't lucid dreaming but what is it?
