Will I have a Lucid Dream if I keep this up?

I can recall atleast 1 dream every night and I write them down in a dream journal the next morning. I do a Reality Check every hour or so by holding my nose and seeing if I can still breath without using my mouth or by trying to stick my finger through my palm. I go to sleep every night saying "Tonight I am going to realise I am having a dream and when I wake up I am going to remember it" about 50 times before i fall asleep. I go to bed REALLY thirsty hoping the TILD technique will work. Before i fall asleep I say to myself. "Tonight I better have a lucid dream otherwise I will punish my self by having a cold shower tommorow morning." And I do have a cold shower the next morning.

      Will I eventually have one?

No one can say if that works for you, but I guess chances are good. You have some slightly masochistic attitude with that cold shower, haven't you?

I agree with gigaschatten... Don't punish yourself. Punishing yourself wont help you, just make you cold. Dreams are based off of positive attitudes and dedication. Your on the right track though, just stop the punishment and you will have an LD soon

Not all dreams are based off of positive attitudes, but I think this is an impractical approach to lucid dreaming. Just keep putting in the steady and hard work, and stop tormenting your poor body every morning! Just keep up the RCs, DJ, etc., unless you know enough about behavioral paradigms to be using negative punishment properly it just sounds like it'll make you miserable and make you associate the thought of all lucid dreaming with awfully cold showers

      Thanks!!!

I wish I had read this before I had my cold shower lol.

Also, How good is the TILD technique? I'm trying it now. I havn't had a drink since i woke up this morning at 7:30am. It is now 2:40pm and I don't plan to have a drink tonight. I'll be going to sleep around 10:30pm.

I'm really thirsty right now. Just wanted to see if it was worth it. Thanks!

Not a good idea at all. This is extremely bad for your health and you could damage your kidneys.

Just keep up the RCs. Do them whenever you think of them and especially when something slightly unusual or coincidental happens. I'm sure you will have a LD eventually without all the hoopla.

      Good luck

You're trying way too hard imho, bud. You need to take a more relaxed approach, LD's take alot of patience and when you actually have one you'll start to see how they work and how to make them occur.

If what you're doing is ok with you, (you're comfortable with it), then by all means... But don't torture yourself lol.

Simple dream recall techniques and reality checks should increase your chances to make it happen the first time. It sounds like you want it bad enough to think about your dreams often and distinguish between the waking world and dream world, so trust in that, and soon enough you'll hit it.
