presentation of me, a new member.

      Hey all!
This seems like a very friendly place, and also a comunity in which I could gain a lot from, and hopefully furthermore contribute to. Looking forward to it all.

I have allways been interested in dreams, the earliest dreams I remember are nightmares, mostly including my mother, but I have learned a lot from them, so I basicly see that as a good thing. I have allways tried to use my dreams as an active factor in understanding my self, and I have used it as inspiration in my art: music and poetry (none of them profesionaly, though I plan to make them) which I am very serious about.

The last couple of years I have begun writing down my dreams which has been rewarding to my level of remembering and my understanding/interpretation of my dreamy self.
Antitheticaly to this I am not very stabil in doing so, it differes how much time I invest in my dream-log. Stupid me!

The main aim of this site, I understand, is to become lucid, and to share lucid expiriences.
I am also interested in becomming lucid, I have had some expiriences that come near, and I have some questions on the matter.

As I said, I use my dreams (non-lucid) to explore my self. I am very curious about LD, but I have a weak fear, that I will loose some of the insights that dreams give me, by beeing aware that they are real. Do Lucid Dreams grant less amount of stuff for interpretation, and hereby knowlege about your self, than normal dreams?

Again, as i said, I have come close. As a matter of fact, when I was a kid, maybe 11, I remember having a LD (in an amusementpark, lot's of fun) but all details are gone, as from a childhood memory in the real world. This however doesn't qute make for me, since I don't remember any details, but it does give me the certanty that LDis within my reach. This fact pleases me but is not nearly enough.

Resently I have had a dream that came close to LD:
I had traveled by bus to a province town with a good friend of mine (my room mate, and we have ofthen talked about LD, and how cool it would be) called Patrick. We have come to find a party and have a good time. After we have been shopping, booze and food, I suddently see him across the street. As we gain eye-contact I realize that it is a dream, and I know, that he knows as well (contradictory, I know - but none the less, this is my memory of it): this big siver slash apears and I know I am lucid.
The interesting part is, that I choose to cast of this state off, and return to the dream - the objektive of findning a party, and cooking the food seems more important to me than anything, and for some reason, I only ascociate LD with flying in the dream. Fact is, I return to a non-lucid dream state, looking for a perty. (I wake up on my 22 birthday...)

Ok, I know this isn't lucid. But what is it. Had I been ltruly lucid, I guess I had just fpund a party while maintaining my lucid state.
Is this common, and if: what does it point to? In any case: what do you think?

Also: Within the last couple of months, [I]dreams[I] have been a theeme within my dreams; talking about them and stuff, which I guess borderlines something interesting...

Sorry for the long first post!

      blessings,
      Jonah

Hey Jonah! Welcome to DV! It's great that you found your way here, it sounds like you are very interested in dreams!

Those dream insights being lost because of lucid dreaming is not something that I would worry about at all. Think about it this way- unless you only become lucid from WILDing (in which case you enter a dream lucid) and if you never lose your lucidity, you will always have some moments of non-lucid dreaming. On top of that, depending on how much sleep you get you should be having probably 5-7 dreams per night (if you're getting about 6-9 hours of sleep). I've only read of a few naturals who have claimed that every single dream is a lucid dream, and even those often appear to be DILDs. I personally have been trying for three years, and in the past 8ish months I've managed to have around 2-3 DILDs per week (roughly 1/21 of my recalled dreams per week), and a lot of people would consider that to be relatively high for DILDs. So I'd say that there is a very low chance that you would just stop having non-lucids altogether and lose this important part of your life. I wouldn't even worry about it, because being lucid in a dream can lead you to be more conscious and aware of your dreams, allowing you to interact and observe parts that are highly interesting that maybe you wouldn't otherwise. It's like passively watching a documentary about ancient Greece that you find so boring you may zone out or even fall asleep for a few moments, or going there on vacation and touring the place, with an expert as a tour guide.

Regarding this last dream with Patrick at the party: "I realize that it is a dream." It was a lucid dream So long as you know that you are dreaming while in a dream, you are lucid It's pretty typical in early lucids or even later lucids() to either wake up from excitement or to lose lucidity. If you take a moment to just stop in the dream, look around, and keep telling yourself that you are lucid you can usually avoid this. It sounds like you've got the discipline to start some good lucid habits, so I expect that you will quickly learn to overcome this So congrats, I'd say that lucid dreaming is well within your reach

      thanks for the uplifting reply!

I am very greatfull that I have found my way here. Tried to start a group on facebook, where people posted dreams, and commented, but it didn't go as well as hoped. Still trying to keep it alive though.

I wanne be better at navigating and understanding this site, but so far I havent seen a FAQ. What does WILD and so on mean. LD is the only one I was able to figure out myself.

      thanks
